I wouldn't be surprised by a draft day deal involving him and Brooklyn's pick to move up.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Interesting, especially coming from Woj. I wouldn't mind trading him for the right deal. If I had to guess I would say Detroit makes the most sense before the deadline.

Dumars is in his last year of his contract and without their '14 1st rounder, tanking is not really an option. He has to do something if he wants to keep his job, and what better opportunity to deal with than a desperate GM.

Monroe is his trade chip, but IMO it would have to be a 3 team trade cause I don't see Danny being interested in paying Monroe next summer.

Mike Gorman did say that from the people that he's talked to, in the NBA, there's some interest in Green. Let's see what this interest is.

Detroit is not trading Monroe for Green.  And Ainge absolutely would acquire Monroe is he was just giving up Green.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I was just speculating but I think you are seriously overvaluing Monroe's trade value.

He is RFA this summer. Team that trades for him has to pay him something like 48M/4y, or else they just traded assets for a 3 month rental. Do you remember what Billy King had to do with Wallace to justify trading a lottery pick for him? Player's agent has all the leverage in those situations.

Do you thing Danny is willing to lock a one dimensional player like (good offense, bad defense) Monroe to that type of deal while having a guy on a rookie deal like Sullinger already on the team? I don't think so.

Monroe will cost a lot more then just Green.

Young talented C do not grow on trees.  It is not his fault that the GM put together a front line that does not work well together.

I have thought for a while that Jeff Green should be traded (for value)

He is a good player that makes to much for this team.   He should be the piece added to core ready to contend not the team looking to build the core.

Agree that Monroe will cost more than Green. Maybe we involve a third team who we send Humphries or Bass to for a young player/expiring/pick and then route whatever we get from the third team to Detroit for Monroe.

We might be able to get lucky in that Dumars could find himself without a job if he doesn't make the playoffs. I also doubt the Pistons are willing to extend him and jump into the luxury tax for a team that is performing so poorly. Also the league is trending away from post scoring and towards athletic rim protectors, so the style of his game might not fit every team in the league. Combine all those things with the fact that Monroe is having a down year on the Pistons mismatched roster and I think there is a chance if we tried to go after him at the deadline we could get him for a lot less than he is actually worth.

woj mentions it than it has more merit than a lot of mystery posts here

if green is moved it would make sense to package him with bass, bradley, green, pick and go after the big prize Love
love signing extension mind you

I mentioned Detroit as a possible landing spot just because they are the team that has a major need for upgrade at SF spot.

But speaking of Monroe, for all of those who think he is some prize to get, take a look at this chart. (stats through December 28)

Basically, of all their big two man lineups, Pistons are the best when Monroe sits. That's how bad he is on the defensive end. Al Jefferson 2.0, good stats, big contract, not much winning..

160 minutes.

Also, Pistons are better in the 269 minutes when Drummond sits than they are when the Smith-Drummond-Monroe lineup is out there. Surely you won't advocate they should permanently bench Drummond?

On/Off is too noisy in those limited sample sizes.

Honestly looking at them just makes me think that Monroe is a C, not a PF. He and Drummond are the problem as they play the same position and Josh Smith is getting caught up in that.
