If the C's Pick Falls Out of the Top-3, Would You Trade It For Kevin Love?

In theory I'm fine with trading for Love, but trading for Love is an all-in kind of move and I'm not making that trade unless I know I can make other moves that get Boston to real contender status because Love/Rondo is not a real contender. 

So I again ask, what other moves is Boston making if it acquires Love?

Well Kevin Love is only 25 years old so it's not like the window would be small.

Ainge would have many years to round out the roster.

We would probably have the most value from the draft pick this year though. What could we possibly offer in terms of pick value next year versus ours this year?

That's not a fair question unless you're suggesting that they can be had for the same assets and signed to identical contracts.

I was assuming it was the trade mentioned in this thread something like Sullinger, Green, Faverani, Bogans, 2014 1st, the Philly pick, and the Clippers pick.

You make that trade (which is reasonable enough) and Boston is essentially Rondo, Bradley, Love, and Olynyk along with the other 2014 1st, Humphries, Bass, Wallace, Bayless, Johnson, and filler.  Clearly not a true contender but certainly a playoff team.  Now there are still the Brooklyn picks and the rest of Boston's firsts to be used as assets, but what are you going to be able to do with them to make that team a contender.  I don't think a guy like Asik does it and I don't think Boston has real assets to land another star (like Anthony). 

So the trade for Love has to be predicated on Ainge believing he can make the other moves necessary to put a real contender in place and I'm not sure such a trade exists.

This is assuming we can trade Sullinger + Nets 2016 + Clips 2015 + something else for Love.  We need to keep that Nets 2018 pick though, that is going to be huge.

I also hope we get someone like Bogdan Bogdanovich, James Young or TJ Warren with our second pick to try to eventually replace one of Bradley or Green.  Granted, I am not a scout so they could all be garbage, but those three look to have potential at least.

I'm going to preface this by saying Love is a nice player. BUT...I think he's soft like a marshmallow and plays no defense. Not gonna say I wouldn't trade for him but you better have a good defensive center/other star on the team already and a defense geared to help cover for him.

If we had Rondo / Bradley / Wiggins / Love / Asik-or-Gasol we'd have a good enough defense to mask him.  Our offense might be a little anemic, though.

Love's defense is no surprise but his contested rebounding percentage is...

Love's opponents shoot 60.2% at the rim -- dead-last in the league among big men. Advanced stats also allow us to take a closer look at Love's rebounding totals: only 38.4% of his rebounds have been contested -- 37th among players who average six or more boards a night.
