People need to learn how to discern between a legit rumor and fannish speculation.

In any case, this probably stems from this story from January 17:

Yeah I'm sorry but there is no way that trade would ever happen unless DA was getting like a guaranteed top 3 pick with it which isn't happening. Rockets would need to offer one of their core players like Harden

salary wise it looks like this.

Lin and Asik have identical salaries for the next two years.

2013-14 = $5.225 million each, $10.45 for the both of them.
2014-15 = $14.9 million each, BUT only $8.3 million each counts towards the salary cap. (i.e. both players total would count as $16.6 million towards cap next year.)

our very own captain rondo has a salary commitment of
2013-14 = $12 million
2014-15 = $13 million

as i see it, celtics would "save" $1.55 towards cap this year.

celtics would "loss" $3.6 million towards cap next year. but have to also pay an additional $16.8 million in "real" money for asik and lin.

please, anyone who knows salaries permutations and gyrations better than I, feel free t step in and correct any errors.

if wyc doesnt mind paying the extra "real money" then this is not a bad use of salary cap i think.

maybe someone else can do the lin versus rondo stats.
