No, David West did what all PFs/Cs have been instructed to do: take cheap shots at Griffin, because he's supposedly easy to rattle. It's been happening with discerning regularity all season.
This was an easy flagrant -- elbow in the head of a defenseless player while being exactly aware what you're doing, and not making a play for the ball. It may get downgraded, but I have no problem with this officiating crew sending a message that bush-league strategy is, well, bush-league.
Oh, and cue in obligatory grandpa comments. I expect to watch actual basketball skill when I tune in to the NBA. If I want poorly rendered MMA, I can switch to hockey, thankyouverymuch.
