You are Pat Riley.  Lebron James tells you tomorrow he is 95% sure he is going to opt out this summer and go back to Cleveland, what do you do?

easy - find the fastest team who wants to rent Lebron and also give good assets back to the Heat

2 posts, 2 opposite responses.  I honestly have no idea what I would do.

At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

This. Lebron would be a fool to leave if they 3peat. And even if he does you got 3 championships out of him

More importantly, we as Celtics fans know how much mileage you can get out of having a backlog of championships. If you're going to lose LeBron, it's best to try for a 3peat first.

Hire every lawyer I can find, tell them all to do whatever it takes to break Durant's contract, give the Thunder a few draft picks to cover the tampering charges.

Clearly the answer is to go for the 3-peat.  Anytime you have a shot at a title, you don't blow it up in hopes of making a future rebuilding job easier.

Go for the title and hope you can convince him to stay.

Sure, but imagine what a championship starved team would give up for Lebron.  I'm sure the Knicks would trade Melo plus other stuff.  You aren't necessarily giving up a title run by trading Lebron.

Could you get Anthony Davis for him?  I'm thinking no, not without a long term extension locked in?
