Are we expecting players to be positive when the team is on a major losing streak?  This doesn't bother me that much.

This is a bad team, Wallace is a veteran who has worked hard in his career and he undoubtedly feels he's earned a chance to be on a good team making runs into the playoffs.

On top of that, the guy in front of him sure does seem to struggle with being assertive and fiery on a regular basis, if not actually having problems with focus / effort.

Yes, because it's part of being a professional. How did KG act during those lean years in Minny? Wallace just needs to be quiet and not complain to the media every other week. What good does that do?

I don't think it makes much difference either way, honestly.

If the young guys on the team and see that Wallace really can't stand being part of a losing situation and wants to win badly, that's not something that worries me.

Yeah, ideally he wouldn't keep going to the media about this stuff, but it's whatever.

I'll wait until we actually have a cohesive core of players who will be here long term before I concern myself about chemistry stuff.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

"It's frustrating to sit and watch guys who don't play with the effort necessary to turn the ball over on 35% of their possessions like I do."  ~Gerald Wallace.

I think Wallace is my least favorite Celtic since Blount.  Or, at least since Patrick O'Bryant.

I really liked him in his prime, but now he's a washed up has-been who won't shut his mouth, despite eating up over 1/6th of our salary cap.

If Wallace was a talented player who deserved minutes he wasn't getting, I would understand.

But he's hot garbage.

A huge negative on offense and actually becoming a negative on defense.

He is talking about the 1st unit. Horrid passing unit. Everyone looks for their shot 1st. When was the last time you saw a guy score a easy bucket?

Sullinger , bradley are quietly 2 of the worse.

His contract is killing us .   But I'm not giving up any prime draft picks to unload him.

Stevens is earning his paycheck with this lot .

nah i dont think players shud be expected to remain positive but lets be honest now. if wallace was doin wat he was supposed to do in the first place, he wouldnt have been traded to begin with. the nets would have no need for an upgrade at small forward, and wallace's contract would not be considered among the worst in the league.

he was on a playoff team already, but he played poorly and blamed it on his lack of confidence and the nets coaching staff, sayin that he was afraid that if he took a bad shot he'd get benched, so he would hardly shoot. fine. i get that. but now he's on a rebuilding team. this shoulda been his opportunity to get his confidence back up. instead, he's taking even less shots than he did last season and turning the ball over at a league leading rate. the guy in front of him isnt the only one that should be more assertive.

I am FED UP with him. He wasn't complaining about the people playing in front of him when they were winning..he had no problems with his minutes and even said that it was good for his career.

I'm tired of his "effort shtick"..how about you put effort in not turning the ball over at huge rate, how about you put effort in to practicing your free throws, how about you put effort into to scoring more than 2 points a game.

That's not leadership and he's not a leader. You want to absolve yourself from blame in this losing streak by saying the guys in front of you aren't putting in the effort and you're not playing. All those losses weren't because of effort (that's a cop out)..it was because the other team was BETTER. I'm sick of him.

“You’re sitting, only playing 17 or 18 minutes a game,” Wallace said. “You’re watching, you know you can still play, and you watch guys in front of you who don’t play with effort, don’t respect the game and don’t think team first. It kind of frustrates you and (ticks) you off. You have to deal with it.”

Yes another Gerald Wallace complaining thread, but I wonder who he's talking about here  >:( :D

this is enough for me to trade him out of here...comments like these will definitely start driving the team down, and create more problems within the team.

Yeah this doesnt bother me either. I dont get the Gerald Wallace hste around here. Sure he talks to the media way too much...Should he keep his mouth shut? Maybe. But every single thing he has said is completely true so its hard to fault the guy. Wallace is a good veteran player and a good locker room guy, he is in it to win it and nothing else. So I have no problem with him calling out his teammates when they are in no effort tank mode...Especially when its justified.

Please..he's using that effort thing as a crutch...the last few teams they lost to wasn't because of effort, it was because that team was better than them (OKC,Clips,Warriors, Portland, Rockets..all playoff teams in the West).

I wouldn't mind him talking if he included the things that he needs to do to help the team instead of always saying it somebody else's effort that's not getting the job done. Who's in front of him that's not giving "effort"..Hump, Bass, Sully, Green (maybe)...please it's a cop out to losing.

Is he angling to be waived? (since he knows no one wants to trade for his contract)

I thought he would have been a good leader in terms of example.  He has always been a player that plays all out every game.

Instead, he is a whiner throwing teammates under the bus.

Huge disappointment.
