Assuming Lebron excercises his early termination option... Not saying it's gonna happen - just what if Danny's keeping it in mind.  It would be a hard sell, but it could happen in theory.

I'm feeling Ainge has a better chance of signing me with cap space than he does LeBron.

no way that can happen nor will LeBron ever step foot in a Celtics locker room

I'm a firm believer in never say never but this...I don't know

I think we'd have to move rondo in order to do it. wouldn't we?

and if that's the case what's the point? imagine LeBron with Crawford?

If Ainge doesn't do any trades for the rest of the season, then he has the financial flexibility where that is an option, but only an idiot would have trying to sign Lebron James as his Plan A and do things to prepare for that which foreclose the possibility of other options.

How?

we have about $20 million coming off the books i think this offseason: humphries, bayless, bogans, i think brooks is essentially an expiring because i think theres a team option - cant remember - but it's entirely possible if lebron was to exercise his early termination option in his contract.

max contract for free agents in now $15 mill i think

trade green and bradley - a bunch of other pieces. it's done.

Only way it could happen is if we move Green and Bass for expirings this year

Then we would have a core of Rondo,Sully,Lottery pick (5-10 range)

Think we wouldn't be able to keep AB though?

You also have a bunch of picks you could trade for other estaablished players

Is a younger core of Rondo,Sully, top 5 pick better than Older Dwade and Bosh?

We are already over the cap now by roughly 15 million, and say we renounce all our free agents including Bradley and Crawford we still won't have nearly enough room to sign Lebron.  That's before considering the cap holds on our first round picks.

I think we would have to at least trade Green and Bass maybe more for expiring contracts, and renounce all are free agents then we might be in the ball park.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

If a deal with Lebron is 'possible', you keep Green and you trade Wallace and [possibly] two future firsts to a team with cap space to get it done. This is the same with Carmelo or any other superstar with an ETO and wants to be a Celtic. Right now, we keep our picks and Wallace, but if an amazing opportunity arises, you have to be ready to go for it...and keeping Green over Wallace is a good start.

For a player that has been in the league as long as James, a free agent max level deal would start around 20-22 million a year.
