Parker has shot under 40% his last 5 games and and under 50% his last 6 games.

Very odd!!!!!

20%, 33%, 39%, and 29% his last four games.

Thoughts??

19 for 59 from the field in his last 5 games against no top 25 teams. That is 33 FG%. Also only 4 assists total for the last 5 games.

It is a long season and there will be a lot of up and downs, especially during conference play. Just tired of everyone hyping the same few players over and over. While all this game to game reaction about Parker, Wiggins, Embiid, Randle etc. is going on, there are other guys playing just as well or better.

Sometimes the ball doesn't end up in the basket.

We've all seen guys go cold.

Remember 2010, when Shuttlesworth went 0-18 or something absurd from deep?
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

probably a shooting slump.  wouldn't worry about it unless he bricks his way through the rest of the season, conference tournament and NCAA tournament.

for the conspiracy theorists out there -- he may be decreasing his stock in the eyes of the really bad teams because he doesn't want to play in Minnesota, Utah or Orlando. ;)

Against Georgia Tech, when he went 4-12, I thought it was just an off shooting night.  Most of his shots were good looks or good decisions attacking the basket against bigger, slower defenders and he just missed.  Last night against Virginia was something different.  His poor shooting (3-11) was a direct reflection of terrible shot selection.  Stepback jumpers from 20-22 feet from your own volition--that's JR Smith type shot selection.

In some ways, his struggles stem from his early success when he made a lot of difficult shots.  He's regressing to the mean, which he'll hopefully adjust to by taking smarter shots.  As much as I love Parker's game, the narrative around him as a smart, high character guy lets him escape the criticism of being a black hole with bad, too stylish selection.

I forgot which mock in the beginner of the year, but it looks like they were right. Parker is about 5-7 , with mediocre defense and exceptional offensive skills.

Embiid, Wiggins, Randle, Smart alone sb ranked higher bc of their above ability to play D to go along with nice overall offensive capabilities/potential.

2nd tier - Parker (mediocre defense), Exum (no consistent jump shot), Gordon (tweener)

Ppl will disagree bc they are crazy about Parker. But you can't say he sb #1 and is good overall , when he is not.

Isn't Parker playing out of position in the post at PF instead of his natural SF position?  I would have to imagine it could be wearing on him playing against bigger guys.  It would kind of be like if Pierce had to play mostly PF.

But this is college.  There aren't many bigs capable of physically wearing Parker down.  He's also a pretty hefty guy.  He can hold his own as far as mass is concerned.

He's bound to get out of his slump and if he doesn't, that'd be really concerning.  But to sustain it, his shot selection has to improve.  He settles for a lot of long jumpers off the dribble.

just not physical enough from what i've seen so far. More finesse vs physical. Like Jeff Green
