I was watching the end of this game last night on NBATV and I simply could NOT believe it.  The Pelicans had battled back and were down 3 with about 9 seconds to go.

Austin Rivers slowly dribbles up the court and goes up to launch a game-tying three and OJ Mayo literally arm bars or rakes across BOTH Rivers' arms as he is going up in the shooting motion.  There was NO foul called.  All the NBATV announcers were in awe and disbelief.  Isaiah Thomas and McGrady were two of the three.

Rivers CLEARLY should have been shooting 3 FT's to try and send the game to OT.

This was the worst game deciding call I have EVER seen!!  This missed call was WORSE than Wade smashing Rondo on the nose on that lay up in the playoffs a couple of years ago!!!

How do these guys keep their jobs??????????????

BTW, how much do they get paid per game??

Cannot find video.  It clearly was NOT Mayo fouling Rivers.  My bad.  Not sure who it was committing the blatant uncalled foul.

2 theories:

1. Stern/Silver has rigged the league.
2. Illuminati

It was Monta Ellis. Just saw the video, and it was clearly a foul. But to their defense, the refs didn't really have a good view on that play. One guy was behind Rivers so he probably didn't see the hack and the other ref was blocked by a Pelicans player so he probably didn't see it either. It was definitely a foul, though. Unfortunate that it ended up that way.

On my phone so can't post it but if you go on YouTube and search "Austin Rivers Monta Ellis," it should be the first video.

This whole idea of just swallowing the whistle down the stretch is going too far. That was a no brainer.

Yeah it looks like both visible refs are screened out of the play - guy at the top of the screen by Rivers' back and guy at the bottom by Calderon/whoever the Pelican running up the middle is.  Probably looked like a block/strip from their angles.

...that's not excusing it, they need to get better angles.  But it's not clear that they could see the contact from where they were.  I thought last year's Lakers/TWolves finish was much worse:

You know what, though? It looks like they swallowed their whistles because it was a pretty blatant Durant-styled Rip Through, and that was one of the points of emphasis from the beginning of the season.

Now, if that's Paul George, or KD, the whistle probably gets blown, but that's a different problem.

KD? Definitely. George? I'm not so sure.

Probably depends on the team--that ridiculous call he got to sink the game winning free throws against the Knicks was exactly the call that he didn't get against Miami.

Many bad calls this week like every other week.

This one with Queen James though takes the cake.

http://nba.si.com/2014/01/10/lebron-james-mirza-teletovic-flagrant-foul-heat-nets/

Flagrant foul called on Teletovic rather than an offensive foul on Queen James left forearm to the neck of Kirilenko.

It's good to be the Queen.

Austin Rivers is not nearly a good enough player to get that call.

I know, it shouldn't work that way, but it does.
