  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
So on the end of this road trip Green went:

15 points 11 rebounds vs the Clippers
24 and 11 rebounds vs Golden State
and
16 points 11 rebounds vs Portland.

I also thought he did a great job defending the perimeter and fighting for possessions.

That's 18.3 points and 10 rebounds against top NBA competition.

Did anyone else notice him getting fired up after hitting both free throws after the dunk attempt vs Portland?
I'm not sure why, but the last few games he's pleasantly surprised me with his fire.
Maybe he reads Celticsblog? lol. But yeah, with so much media coverage and with a lot of time on the road on their Ipads and cell phones killing time over this road trip he's probably gotten a nice reality check from trade rumors and sites like this. His All Star vote count was great as well.
Loving this effort at the end of a brutal road trip and back to back games- great way to show leadership and heart vs some top competition in the West.

That's not a typo. 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Anyway, big PROPS to JG. Keep it up and keep going hard in the paint baby!
(just don't win too many games for us!)
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I have noticed and I've been absolutely ecstatic. I was thinking about starting a similar thread after the first two games. My biggest peeve with Green has always been how he rarely impacts the game outside of his scoring.

Green goes stretches goes long stretches in games with making an impact because he relies too much on scoring to make his presence felt. One of the great things about Pierce was even on an off night he'd find ways to make his presence on the court felt, either through rebounding or passing. Green will likely never be the passer Pierce was but he can be just as good a rebounder if not better.

Think about it Greens 8 point performances wouldn't be so bad if he had 8 rebounds and his 20 point performances would look a lot better if they were with 7 or so boards. There is no reason a 6'9 freak athlete with a body like Green's should be rebounding like a guard.

And defense!

Last time I heard someone quoting stats, Jeff Green's advanced defensive statistics (P&R defense, opponent Points-Per-Possession, etc) were exceptional - up there with some of the very best at the SF position.

Eye test tells the same story - he has held some seriously high profile scorers to soem very inefficienct shooting nights since he returned from heart surgery last season.

So right now he's giving us 18 points per 36 minutes along with some of the best defense out there at the SF position.  If he adds rebounding to that list of 'productive areas' then he instantly propels himself to borderline All-Star status.

Means absolutely nothing.  This is Jeff Green we're talking about here.  I don't care if he has averaged 25 points over the last three games.  I'm not getting excited over nothing.  I still say trade him.

Ithere can only be Jeff green bashing threads
You can't point out good games, extremely efficient offense or top notch defense
Or in another thread our fourth highest paid player is our leading scorer
No no no

Jeff green threads can consist of, in no certain order
Perk green trade part  10007
Trade green for (insert players name)
Trading for another small forward who is paid more money, not as efficient and have green come off the bench
Green is the (insert number but make it high and unrealistic) option on a playoff caliber team

He has been his passive self and has underproduced since the day he put on a Celtics jersey.  So we're suppose to get all excited over some three games he showed up for?  Nah, this is what he does...have couple of good games and die for the next 20.

Great! This is exactly what green should be doing  just about every night. Glad  to see him performing well once more. He always has some games in a row such as these. Hiowever, hs history to date has been to follow them up with mediocre performances.

Hopefully this time he keeps on doing well.  Maybe Stevens has gotten through to him.

He has never rebounded this well, though.

4 double digit rebounding games since being a Celtic. No, I'm not saying he's got 6 in total now. I'm saying including the past 2 games vs. the Dubs and the Clips he now has 4 in total.

He didn't score all that well today (but the aggressiveness was there) so it's nice to see his rebounding isn't tied to his scoring.

Enough of these pro-Jeff Green threads.

Don't you know all of CB hates Jeff Green?

I know, but was trying to be as positive about him as I could.  ;D

I was too.

He's never grabbed rebounds like he has in the past 3 games.

I'm over the moon about this, honestly.

Three solid games. The question always is, how long will it continue? Will this become a regular occurrence or does he regress to the Jeff Green we all know and love/hate? If he maintains something close to these numbers for a month, then maybe he finally gets it. With Jeff Green is has always been about one thing: The complete lack of consistency.

This.

Jeff is as talented as they come, his effort and consistency always leave a lot to be desired - there's a reason there's a rebounding bonus in his contract. This has been a nice 3 game stretch for him, but it would not shock me in the slightest if he followed it up with 5 consecutive mediocre games.

One of the things I've loved this year is that Coach Stevens has not coddled him. If Jeff isn't playing well and someone on the bench is playing better, Stevens won't hesitate to sit him an entire 4th quarter.  Its important for him to see that.
