Seems to be one of the hot topics regarding Celtics trade rumors/ideas with people in Boston and in the national media.

I personally don't see the need to pay to move him now but maybe I'm in the minority.

What's the most you would pay to dump Wallace?

None of the options in a vacuum. No point in sending a pick out to dump his salary unless you have a plan to put that space to immediate use.

Pretty much my exact line of thinking (example: GS/Iggy) but I continually see and hear people talking about paying to dump Wallace and I'm sure there are plenty of people who still want him gone just to see him and his contract gone.

agree completely
unless his contract is needed to balance a good trade we pretty much can't trade him and that contract $$$ unless we are giving up an asset
wallace will be the highest paid limited role player until he becomes an expiring for us

Pretty much what Faf said.

Unless there is an opportunity to make a big move, there's no need to trade his contract this season.  Of course, if some team gave us a bargain price (for example, an expiring contract for Wallace + lottery-protected #1), I'd do it.

Might just have to ride it out another year and a half until he becomes the next Theo Ratliff's expiring contract.

I don't see us landing any sexy free agents anytime soon. More likely, we'll build through the draft, develop talent and maybe swing a trade or two. I'm not sure freeing up cap space is that critical given the expiring contracts and trade exception we currently have.

How about what would I take to get rid of his contract?

A second rounder would do. That should be fair value enough.

If they could attach a player they are not interested in long term or a highly protected 1st, sure.

Exately, if the plan is to use the space to bring in a stud to play along Rondo and compete for rings then add as many pics as it takes. If the plan to build slower and possibly trade Rondo then ride out his contract and possible inact the stretch provision.

No.

This sort of salary dump requires first round picks, either  a high one or a multiple lower picks.

As long as we are not in winning mode, I have no interest in giving up a 1st rounder to dump him.  Maybe next year I would think about it, depending on how the next draft goes.

But who would give up first round picks for him?

I guess I am back pedaling and agree with the point that it's not fair value but, we save a ton, why not?

If we keep him, do we have to play him?
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Don't waste anything.  Just have him shut up.

The opposite is being said.  We'd have to give up a first to be rid of him.  Hence my position.

I don't care about Wallace.  Yes his contract sucks but I'm not giving up any of our assets to deal with him.  Again, just have him shut up.
