He keeps telling me it's overrated, which in my experience, means he loves it. I've always believed the plan in Boston was to try to snag one of those top five picks. We will know for sure in a few weeks when we get closer to the trade deadline. The Celtics have assets they could move to almost guarantee a Top 5 pick (well, guarantee is a strong word given the situation in Toronto). Will they make the moves?



Not surprisingly, I've agreed with Ford all along. Just love the part where he points out that his experience with Ainge dictates that he 180s everything, allowing Ford to assume the opposite is how he really feels.

Oh right, right. I took it as "look at how bad things are going for them all of a sudden", which confused me. Now I'm up to speed.

It's kind of ironic that Gay improved Toronto by leaving and has sparked Sacramento's upswing. Both Sacramento and Utah have played a heck of a lot more competitively since the Gay trade and Trey Burke's return respectively, which is great news if you like ping pong balls this year.

I think Ainge is just downplaying the tanking talk. We know from past articles that the organization feels this year's draft is better than last year's, though nobody will say that on the record of course.

If Ainge says something like, "this is a pretty good draft" it automatically gives fuel to the tanking accusations.

We are only a game out of the playoffs without Rondo.  So trading Rondo isn't going to impact that at all since he hasn't been playing.  Trading Bass would free up minutes for Oly... which potentially could improve the team.   Trading Green would free up minutes for Wallace... who theoretically could improve the team defensively.   You never know... no guarantee we get a Top 5 pick.  We're a game out of the playoffs.  We're a game above a Top 5 pick.   Insane, right? 

Philly has the 5th worst record in the league and are only 2 games out of the playoffs.

Yeah, not a ton of no brainer moves to lose more games as you explained well.

We've been flirting with the playoffs WITHOUT Rondo, so say you trade him, Ainge is obviously going to want a very nice return, and in the return you're likely to get at least one good player. So now add that good player to our team right now...

So trading Rondo, may actually HELP you win more games right now.

Danny a inge maybe full of crap but that comment just sounds like something you'd hear around here anyway.

He can just say he doesn't believe him rather than add some weird comment about Ainge lying about thoughts of a draft being overrated in which I doubt he would be able to prove but whatever

Trading Green would make this team worse.

Gay is horribly in efficient -- moving him cleared the way for good young players to step in.

That's not the case with Green -- training him would mean a lot of Gerald Wallace. Loses... here we come.

Then again, this team is pretty awful with Green as our 'go to' guy. Keep him for as many games as possible. Trade him right before the deadline!

Think you're being a touch literal. I took him to mean: "When Ainge says one thing to me, it often plays out he means the opposite and he's just smoke screening through the press."

Why would any GM in any franchise show his cards ?  People act like this is some atrocity or something.

The only people who truly know how Ainge feels about this draft are the men working alongside him.  That's it.

You stay the course. We all agree our record will be worse by the end of the month. You try to move Bass, and Green to counter the return of Rondo and for salary reasons. Pipe dream is to trade Wallace but right now he is awful so that wont change anything unless we get a player back that we can waive or is injured for the season. Moving Crawford for a pick would be a wing for us too.

I feel confident that we can stay in the top 6 picks at this point, unless Danny makes a trade that brings in some good players.

  I wouldn't count on Wallace making the team better if he replaced Green.
