Carlos Boozer is too good for a rebuilding team, but he could be very good for the Knicks. Posted this in the Deng to Cleveland frontpage post, zombie Amare trade that never dies...
if the Bulls are tanking for Parker, it’s time for the three-way trade with the Knicks:
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=pzf9g9oBOS sends Wallace+Crawford to NYK, Humphries+Bogans to CHI
BOS gets Charlotte’s 2014 first rounder from CHI, Amare+Shumpert from NYK
CHI sends Boozer to NYK, Charlotte’s pick to BOS
CHI gets Humphries+Bogans from BOS
NYK sends Amare+Shumpert to BOS
NYK gets Crawford+Wallace from BOS, Boozer from NYK
why for NYK: they get the best player in the trade, avoid giving a lottery pick to Denver and get to compete in the Leastern Conference. Get Wallace (terrible contract, but Amare’s is worse) and Crawesome, who can contribute and help the Knicks have a winning season and fight for the playoffs.
why for CHI: they avoid amnestying Boozer, and get a little worse (tank for Parker). Save money and get financial flexibility. It’s worth the Charlotte non-lottery pick.
why for BOS: they give up Crawesome in order to get rid of their worse contract in Wallace. And they send two valuable expirings in Humphries and Bogans for the Charlotte pick. Essentially it’s Lafrentz 2.0 (Wallace) for Ratliff 2.0 (Amare), plus Shump and a pick. Also 4.5M more in cap savings this season.
Boston roster:
Rondo/Bayless/Pressey
Bradley/Shumpert/Brooks
Green/
GomesBass/Olynyk
Sully/Fav/Amare
with 3 first round picks in 2014, and something like 6M under luxury tax. Enough to sign a couple of D-Leaguers/China boys to multiyear non-guaranteed contracts.
Such a big trade is very difficult to make, but this would set the Cs until the 2014-2015 season.
