Next shoe to drop?

With Courtney Lee apparently traded, I would not be surprised to see the following go down.

Humphries, Wallace and either Brooks or Crawford to the Knicks for Stoudemire and Iman Shumpert.

It would make a lot of sense for the Knicks.

Humphries /
Melo / Wallace
Jr Smith / Hardaway Jr. / Prigioni
Felton / Crawford / Udrih

The Knicks would still need to sign another PF but this would make them much more complete. They hold onto Wallace for an extra year at $10 Mil but may be able to buy him out or trade him after next season.

In the meantime he provides much needed back up for Melo and possibly at the three. After Chandler they have nothing substantial up front. Humphries would fit very well and he'd also come off the books so they could go after another big shot at PF in the off season.

For Boston, we dump Wallace's contract and get Shumpert to solidify a nice backcourt - he'd be a very good back up for Bradley - tough D, can shoot threes and is physical at 6' 5" when Bradley's getting muscled. We them focus our draft picks and other moves on front court help.

I'd do it for the C's for 3 reasons:
1) Shump is better than either Brooks or Crawford.  the only problem is Pressey becomes our only PG until Rondo gets back.  AB is NOT a PG.
2) helps us get lower (improved) position in the lottery (without sacrificing a young player we would prefer to keep) by making us worse while making the Knicks much better so that they can pass us in the standings.
3) unloads Wallace's longer deal although I hate to see Amare's deal on the books after this year.  although, that is a major salary slot off the books after 2015 when we should hopefully be on the upswing in terms of talent and would look to be a buyer in the FA market

Ainge's next move is to try and package Bass and Wallace for an expiring. Really any move to get the Celtics in a postion to sign Melo. I think he envisions the new big three being Rondo Melo and whomever he takes in the top 5 (if they get a pick in that range) plus Boston has a ton of picks in the next 5 years. Out of all the teams Melo has been rumored to go to Boston easily a better set up than all of them. If he wants to play with Rondo then this is a no brainer.

I'm not a big Carmelo fan. That being said, he is a top line scorer and it's possible that Rondo and Stevens could make his life immeasurably easier than it's ever been. We'd better sign a real good defender behind him.

If this was the case then why not trade Green and Bass for Asik and Lin? This would mean that for us Asik, Lin and Stoudemire would all come off the books the same year as Melo become a free agent.

ATL / Brooklyn pick: 4-12? I've looked at their schedules and both could easily nose dive. Brooklyn with another injury. ATL because teams are going to load up on Milsap and Korver.

Only way you are getting an expiring for Wallace is to include a couple 1st rounders or Rondo.

If you are asking what the next shoe to drop is then I would say Jordan Crawford is gone fairly soon but if you are asking if this is the next shoe to drop then I doubt it. Stoudemire's contract takes some 2015 money off the books but I feel there are more productive ways to do that than to trade for a guy with a $23 million contract next year that has a knee so bad that he could be out all next year and give you nothing while having to pay him his money because his contract is uninsured.

I get he's a PG but he's always struck as a combo guard at best but more of a SG

OK, $64,000 question -- which 2 big stars do you think will actually hit the market that would actually sign here with no other star players to join with? 

Melo might actually hit the market but the several other big name players (like the Miami trio) are very likely to stay with their current team.  Melo won't be coming here to play with Sully and Green who'd be our 2 best players.
