The latest from our sister blog, SB Nation's "Fear the Sword", the Cavs have a backup deal with the Jazz if the Gasol talks fall through.
As described above, the deal would be Jefferson to the Cavs for Bynum AND a second round pick.
http://www.fearthesword.com/2014/1/5/5277386/nba-trade-rumors-cavaliers-jazz-andrew-bynum-richard-jeffersonTwo things strike me as odd about that.
One is that if the Cavs are gonna give the Jazz a second rounder for RJeff, why is there a problem giving the Fakers at least a couple of their seconds or maybe more for a far more valuable player in Gasol. Both Jefferson and Gasol would be rentals, potentially, anyway.
The second is that this report kinda undermines previous reports as to who was going to get compensation from whom in a potential Cavs/Fakers deal.
If Utah would get Jefferson and a second, what could Green fetch with Bynum, a first, Waiters, if we threw in Crawford?
