When TWill was rumored to be signing with Maine, many people took it as a sign we were about to make a trade and then sign TWill with the big club.
To me, this seems more like a cause for that type of speculation. Why not send him down long ago? It's not like he's going to learn much in the D-League, he is going down to get burn to get in a rhythm to come back up and get PT. CBS said he isn't expected to be there long. Now, why would Brooks be getting into game shape? There are no injuries to the other guards ahead of him and he hasn't done anything to take the spot (much less the fact that RR will be out there soon). Trying to get him in game shape, for what exactly? Is he gonna get in game shape to come back up and wave a towel?? It's not like teams need to see what he can do, they pretty much know and it's not like he makes too much, they could get him for pennies if they want him. They say that we aren't going to have time for practices as sort of a reason but it's not as if we haven't been dealing with that all season.
Yea, I'm thinking something is up... a little fishy.
I was thinking the exact same thing, I wondered why he hadn't gotten any burn considering his numbers, length and potential.
I was mulling over whether or not we've been keeping him under wraps so we can sign him to a nice cheap offer sheet and build up his value once Crawford or Avery are gone.
He's much better than his playing time suggests and even with the clogged guard rotation I'm surprised our stats hungry coaching staff haven't played him more.
Keeping him under wraps and showcasing our better trade assets more?
You are very right about the T Will analogy...eerily similar.
TP
Most plausible explanation why he hasn't gotten any playing time with the big league team: the players that are playing are much better than he is and have earned the playing time. Remember, the players playing in front of him are young, not 10+ year, grizzled old vets but young players. So there is no need to sit young players playing well to give time to another young player that isn't playing well to develop them through the most ridiculous method possible, giving them playing time they haven't earned.
Most plausible explanation for Brooks going to Maine and only going to be there a short while: the team doesn't want to take him on a two week trip where they will have no practices and he is going to get no playing time. Best thing to do in this instance is just let him get run down in Maine and let him stay in game shape and that way when the team comes back to Boston and its time to practice with the big league team, he can be recalled and not be out of shape to practice.
I'm going to assume the first paragraph had nothing to do with me b/c I never said he was good enough to play, that was my point, even when he comes back there are better people ahead of him so it's not like he is going to get minutes when he comes back either way. So, if it's b/c of no practices, we have had a stretch like this b4 and he stayed. Let's just say that is the real reason, why not send Vitor down too it's not like he has been getting PT either? I don't even want Brooks to play b/c of that tragic defense, so I don't mind that they sent him down. I think he is so far away from playing right now that even an injury won't get him PT, so like I said b4 maybe he is staying ready so he can stand longer while waiving a towel.
I also came to this idea b/c I thought that it didn't make sense when people said it about TWill, I think this makes more sense in relation when it comes to Brooks.
Also, no way in heck do I think he will be or want AB to be in any discussions about trades, that's my fav player. I hope the trade if any (I'm fine with no trades matter of fact), will involve Brooks! Keep him ready for his next team by sending him down!
I don't even agree with a lot of the things that poster said, those weren't even my thoughts. I don't see Crawford or AB being dealt, if anything it would be Lee. I don't think Brooks is better than he has shown, he always knew how to get his, he can't defend to save his own life!
That was meant a whole lot more for chambers than for you Shak.
BTW, maybe Vitor is traveling with the team because of Sullinger's bad thumb and the fact, he really is the only center on the whole team.
Of course it could be he's just getting some game time because he's got nothing better to do on the bench of the C's.
I should have worded my last post better but its hard to type a lot on the cell phone sometimes.
I agree with shak that something is fishy, we have different thoughts on why something fishy is up.
For a team that's trying to develop young guys, this may be the best way to do just that by giving Brooks some game time in D League.
It's just my personal opinion that he's been put on ice while we showcase the other guards.
Statistically he's a pretty good player on offense and his defense is average.
In Brooklyn in his second year he was shooting 46% from the field in 4 attempts a game as a jumpshooter althought his three point shooting was poor. His form looks good though and it's tough to say how much better he's gotten from behind the arc considering his pathetic playing time.
I'd say there's a big chance that we trade one or two of Lee, Bradley and Crawford and he slides into the regular rotation- that's what I mean by something 'fishy' being up.
Just pure speculation on my behalf but taking him out and giving him serious time with the scrubs is being done for a reason.
They said he wont be there long so maybe something is in the works
