Grande reports 2nd quarter altercation between Bass & Green

Tommy mentioned that someone needed to let Green have a seat, said one of the coaches should move to the back... minutes later they panned to the bench, there was Green's normal spot WIDE OPEN at the end of the bench. He chose to stand the rest of the game.

CBS did a great job benching the starters (while keeping AB and Craw in) second half of the 3rd. His HUGE MISTAKE was taking Pressey out for Crawford, who then promptly lost us the game. Crawford was so terrible last few minutes (hitting one prayer after holding the ball forever)! He had the offense looking so ragged the entire game, it was hard to watch. Pressey made it look like RR was out there in comparison, both in the first and second half. We more than likely win that game if CBS didn't put Crawford back in.

Instead of Bass and Green arguing with each other, they should be p---ed at Crawford. His horrible running of the offense is why they sat (and why they [Bass] started to force things).

I'm going to be mad at CBS for a while, probably until we win again (Wednesday)... Crawford is Crawford, it's up to the coach to know when to pull him, especially after he came in and the offense STOPPED moving and with the shots he chucked! This loss stings.

I agree about Crawford being benched, but not for Pressey. I think we should've gone with the Lee/Bradley backcourt and had Wallace, Olynyk, and Humprhies along the frontline.

Jeff needs to channel that energy into destroying the opponent , not picking a fight with Bass.......

And Stevens needs to tap into Greens energy and have him on the court when it counts .......have Pressey get the ball into Jeff Greens hand s...for the final possession or trips to win.....what was going on .....

I was at the game, starters were outplayed by the Hawks all game.  Stevens was right in leaving his bench in, they played great.

This isn't factually correct. Green was standing while Bass was still in the game. He was the first starter replaced in the second half and stood the rest of the way.

I agree bad JC is back.   I still think Bass did not let Green sit down and even pushed down Vitor the row so Green could not sit.   

I worked yesterday, read about the incident and watched the game via DVR.   This gave me an advantage observing it because I was aware of it and didn't see it live.  Of course, I could be reading more into to it tainted by what I read.  So who knows.

It takes two to tangle.   Both guys have a fault with this as leaders of the team, setting a poor example and not being good team mates.

So who would win in a fight? My money is on Bass.

Bass has a physical edge but NBA guys are usually wimps.   They flail their arms with push punches like a little throws in grade school and lack true skill in this area.  It's a good thing given their athletic prowess and size if they had real fighting ability skulls would be crushed and bones broken, etc.

These two had a revealing night here. Jeff is touted by many as being one of the cornerstones of this franchise's future. Bass has been relegated to the trade bait/role player position and isnt mentioned in the teams future plans.

What we found was what we already knew. Green is not a leader or even an assertive personality and is not a reliable scorer. Brandon is a tough give it your heart guy who wont/cant back down ever that finds a way to score but is still undersized for his position.

Both need to go. Maximize the value and keep them out of these revealing positions that show their true weakness to any and everyone watching.

I agree to an extent.  Neither is critical for a rebuild yet either would be an OK role player if we had a legit Big 3.   I am great with trading one or both, and you are correct that the goal now is maximizing their value. You can't rest on the hope that we'll fool other GMs, rather, put JG and BB in position to play their best baskeball and showcase their value as role/complementary players.

Holy Revisionist History, Batman!

Bass had nine points this game and was guarding Milsap.  He was 2-6 and only played 24 minutes.   In that time he only had 2 rebounds.   Milsap was killing him and finished with 34.   I think he had like 17 at the half.  Milsap absolutely destroyed him head to head play.  Milsap is 6'8" and Bass is 6'8" same size.  Bass didn't have to not back down because this game he got pushed on his rear!

If that was all his heart had to give we are in real trouble.

Good, cause I am not selling anything.  Usually both sides in any conflict  have some fault unless one side is a complete wimp and can't put up a fight or show resolve.  Sometimes one side had no fault sometimes they don't know they were annoying one side, etc. I doubt we know because they circled the wagons.

Bass is a total joke. Now that KG and Paul are not here, he thinks he is the go to guy. He tried to out duel Milsap yesterday and got killed. A few games ago, he thought he was about to be traded and tried to take the last shot. He couldn't even get the ball off. What a joke!!!

Every guy in that locker room should be backing Jeff Green. Yes, he does not always appear to be passionate. But he still leads this team in scoring, without Rondo, who can probably get him some easier baskets in transition.

Jeff, IMO, is part of the future. Him, Bradley, Rondo, Sully, and KO make a nice under 30 team. Bass and Lee are just remnants of a former team, that never won, who will probably be traded before the deadline.

I'd still like to know what happened? from that video it looked like jeff was upset about something bass didn't do  either defensively or rebounding-wise or both and let him know about it. and then it seemed like bass proceeded to pout because he got called out.

I personally have never been a big fan of bass & it's clear he's a typical player looking for a new contract having his best yr.

the 1st offer for this guy is probably the best offer.
