I want him for Wallace.  Then waive him.  It can open up tax space to use the trade exception if nothing else.

Since Cle can waive him by Jan 7th and owe him absolutely nothing else, I don't see them taking on 2 1/2 years of Wallace (and essentially killing their chances of going after Lebron). It would take at least two 1sts.

Funny... just over a year ago some people here were passionately arguing that Bynum was the best big in the league.  Several of the folks here said he was superior to Dwight HOward.  He's only 26 years old. He's played roughly the same amount of games as Rondo since 2011.  Bynum is healthier and younger than Rondo... and fully healthy he's a force you could build a team around.   

  Raise your hand if you think Bynum's going to be healthier than Rondo going forward, or even if you think he has been in the past. He's had 1 season in his 9 year career where he was a force and his team took advantage of that to unload him.

Just sayin... right now, Bynum is technically healthier.  Rondo says he's not playing for at least a month... and for all we know, he's going to sit out the rest of the season.   Andrew Bynum is certainly not 100%, but the dude is starting games, playing minutes... and at times he's dominating. 

  Rondo's not in game shape. He's probably healthier than Bynum at this point in time. I doubt he'd have any trouble playing ineffectively for 15-20 minutes/game right now.

Bynum has proved he can still play the game of basketball.   Rondo hasn't done that yet

  Bynum has proved that his play is severely limited due to health issues. There's no evidence that's true with Rondo.

A Lee and/or Bass for Bynum trade would be great for the tanking cause.

Celtics lose the decent production from Bass and Lee and get temporarily saddled with a surly malcontent with the knees of your grandfather.

Huge potential for team disharmony and the losses that come with it.

Would Danny want to subject the medical staff to the ordeal of managing A Bynum for every step of the way though? The guy isn't going to be anywhere near 100% healthy ever again.

He hasn't demanded anything.  The Clippers have interest.  But I agree that it will be messed up if he winds up on a contender.

I just think the double standard is funny.  Rondo is older.  He hasn't proven he can even step on a basketball court during an actual game yet.  So if people are going to so easily dismiss Bynum as "done", they might as well say the same about Rondo.  Bynum has played within the last month and played well.

Obviously, my point is that neither is "done".  I think Bynum can still play if he wants to. I was using our beloved Rondo to illustrate the hypocrisy in this thread.

Granted, Bynum is also a malcontent who may very well want to stop playing basketball.  But the stuff I'm reading suggests he can still play... and would be willing to play for a team he can become emotionally invested in.  I don't blame him for losing interest in Cleveland.  Horrible city and a braindead coaching staff.

  Rondo was a player with healthy knees who had a knee injury. Bynum's a player who's bee struggling with various knee injuries for a number of years and who isn't close to the player he used to be. The fact that you call considering their situations to be different a double standard is absurd.

  BTW, from ESPN in the Cavs last 10 games (probably Bynum's last 8 ) he's played 22 mpg and gone for 7/6 on .364% shooting. You've described that as "playing well" or "at times dominating". Think for a second about how you'd describe Rondo's play if he was putting up pedestrian numbers in limited minutes. That's where you'll find the real double standard in this conversation.
