I could see DA selling high on crawford then buying lower on jimmer. When rondo comes back crawford will move to the bench hurting his and lee's value. Trading crawford and bringing jimmer in as the 3rd guard would be a solid move.

Maybe this is his plan all along. Bring in Jimmer Fredette, move Crawford to bench. Then trade Crawford, Lee, and Bass to Houston for Omer Asik. Ainge's master plan is puzzling in!

Nice, because clearly we need more guards on the team.

 ;D

I think Crawford and/or Lee could be sent somewhere else, but yeah, that's the first thing that comes to mind.

Bass, Lee and Crawford are probably reaching their peak value at this point, so I wouldn't expect them to end the season in Celtic green. I'd be perfectly fine if Danny stays put, I like each and every member of this team and they're overcoming lack of talent/roster balance with heart and collective effort. But Bass and Lee would be more useful to a contender, and Crawford's value may be needed to close a deal.

Jimmer makes sense from a basketball standpoint, and if they could send Bogans and a future (top 55 protected, as the Sacramento picks we are owed) second rounder to cut salary and get a shooter, that's deal, IMO.

If it is really just a 2nd rounder and Bogans, I can't see why Boston wouldn't make that trade.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Just awful.....maybe he worth more than Bogans ......he is about valuable as Fab Melo

Exactly. Better than Eddie House? Crawford gone? Huge joke... dude is a scrub, shouldn't be put in the same sentence as those two.

Edit: Just saw another post about acquiring Jimmer and moving Crawford to the bench. What?!?!?! Crawford has been an animal in his role, and he's filler for Rondo. I suspect some heavy drinking is going on on this Saturday evening...

Ainge may not want to add that guaranteed salary for next season.

Second round picks aren't worthless.

Here's a great article regarding Fredette's underperformance for the last two seasons under Coach Smart.

http://cowbellkingdom.com/2013/10/20/sunday-musings-the-jimmer-fredette-dilemma/

Notable comments on the article:

ChrisDoster
Fact vs. Opinion - Articles on Jimmer set off a "Firestorm", from the "haters" to the critical thinkers because its hard to find another example of blatant biased since Jeremy Lin when his coach was also named "Smart".

Fact - Jimmer never started ONE game under coach "smart".  Even though he led the team in 3's and showed flashes of brilliance on multiple occasions, with fewer mins than any player other than Outlaw. Youtube and NBA league pass archives dont lie...although the media/haters do...

Fact - The Kings were dead last in defense, assists and won all of 38 games.  So the genius coach, GM, and bankrupt owners let him rot on the bench....what a waste.

Fact - Jimmer is far different than any other Kings player. No "tats", no "techs" and actually tries to play team ball.  Salmons, DMC, and most of the other Kings would freeze him out even on inbounds plays, let alone when he was wide open.

Fact - Thomas, Thornton, Salmons, DMC, Douglas last year, and just about every Kings "me first" player other than Outlaw, got more time than Jimmer....

Fact - Low information Kings fans blasted Jimmer for his defense, lack of ability, or perhaps lack of "Tats and Techs", as if he was the reason they won all of 38 games....What a joke.

James that was an excellent article. Very on the money. But the only cure for Jimmer to excel is to be traded from incompetent kings. Malone also shows Jimmer no respect. Jimmer sits out two exhibitions and doesn't play until the fourth quarter in another game. I question what Malone has been watching. Jimmer is a POINT GUARD!!! How can Malone not see this. Jimmer is an unselfish player - nothing like most of his selfish teammates. He sees the court very well, is an excellent passer and is an unbelievable long range shooter. May I also add that he's an class act. Despite being treated so unfairly he never makes a negative comment. He'll say he has to work harder. He'll, all he Needs is a real chance. But for all you Jimmer haters he must not have enough tats, or he doesn't have a bad attitude like head case cousins or ma,bye he just doesn't care about the team like Thornton. Silver dog you are clueless. You must also be blind. I think badminton would be a sport you should follow. Free Jimmer. He'll never get a real chance with the kings. Look at their draft choices and trading for Vasquez. Obviously the kings don't have respect for Jimmers game. But watch out!!! Jimmer is another Steve Nash in the making!!! Nash is a former MVP who doesn't play defense as good as Jimmer. But Nash showed everyone he is a perennial all star. Jimmer will be too. But just not on the dysfunctional kings. I hope Jimmer gets traded and scorches the kings and IT and cancerous cousins every time he plays them. You can bet he will playing with a chip on his shoulders to show all his detractors that they were WRONG in criticizing his game. -

I believe Sacramento did not pick up his option so he's essentially an expiring contract.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
I dunno.
I'm assuming they aren't ponying up the money for Avery unless he plays at or above his current level (shooting wise) and they are convinced he'll be a career solid jumpshooter/3 point shooter.

2nd round pick in 2014 I'd say no way, but we already gave that up for Mr Courtney Lee I think.

Read that last line again. One more time.

how about crawford to the kings for jimmer and a 1st rounder?

either way, i think buying low on jimmer is a good idea. he can only get better. that eddie house 2.0 idea is decent. i still think jimmer is better though.

no one has really seen what jimmer can do because hes been riding the pine so long. but im not saying he's going to be an all star, im just saying that if crawford gets moved, which he probably will, jimmer could be a knock down shooter.

def not on the level of crawfords ability, but still a decent pick up stevens could increase their value while playing with the celtics.

i dont really trust the source of the report though...

I don't mind taking a low-risk flyer on Jimmer (2nd rounder and salary filler). He reminds me of Redick, who people forget was considered an absolute bust for his first 5 years in the league. Jimmer has a hard time on D, but we have one of the best defensive coaches in the NBA in Ron Adams. He is a lights out shooter (which we don't have) and if the Celts can turn Crawford into what he is today, I think they could definitely turn Jimmer into a solid role player.

This entire report is of someone else speculating that Danny 'could' make a trade to bring in Fredette's firepower.

He's a career .414 shooter from the 2 with a career 114 defensive rating (to 103 offensive), who Danny would be able to pick up as a FA this summer if he wanted to.

How does his $2M match Bogans' $5M? Why would Danny want to do this?

'Rumor' is too kind a word to attach to this silly speculation.

This is more of an idea than a rumor, if you read the report closely. No substance other than speculation.

Fredette definitely can be better than House.  Fredette still hasn't gotten a stable spot in a rotation and Eddie House averaged 7.5pts and 1.6 assists on 9 different teams.  I don't think it's too ambitious to think Fredette can have a career at least as good as House.

House had some huge moments that are ingrained in our memories but let's not forget that he was in and out of our rotation and we let him go just like 8 other teams did.
