Celts get:
Stoudemire

Knicks get:
Wallace, Humphries, lee

we would clear  wallace's and lee's contracts off our books. getting back stoudemire is huge because when his contract expires in 2015 (with rondo's), we can possible sign 2 FAs (one hopefully is rondo).

the knicks should do this because they are pathetic and all 3 of those players are better than anyone on their team with exception of melo and chandler. wallace gives them some def at the 2/3/4. humpries gives them a guy next to chandler who will actually try to catch a ball when it comes off the rim. lee gives them some insurance at the 1/2 given what they have.

contracts might not work out exactly but woudl love to hear thoughts on this.

Salaries wouldn't work, we'd be sending out too much money, but regardless I think the expiring contract of Humphries is far more valuable than Stat. I would trade Wallace and filler for him though, don't think the desperate Knicks would without a first though which would be a deal breaker to me and I'm sure to Danny

I'd expand the trade a little more.

Something like Bass, Lee, Wallace and Bogans for Stat, Schumpert and Hardaway.

Lets the Knicks contend now, getting 3 relatively productive veterans who can all D up pretty good and will provide much needed depth and stability to the team and gives us two youngsters for our rebuild, and one less year of an albatross contract and shaves salary this year putting us even lower under the threshold.

Trade Machine also projects 6 less wins for us, another bonus. ;)

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

How could they possibly muster up the nerve to ask for a first when we would be taking on the only contract in the nba worse than Wallace's? If that filler was Courtney Lee or Bass, that is more than enough and the Knicks should jump at the opportunity.

yeah i figured including lee (and heck throw in brooks as well) would be enough in lieu of a draft pick.

I doubt they would deal Hardaway he has some talent and is cheap.

Yah, I do agree that Hardaway is talented and cheap. But, if the Knicks want to compete now and make Melo happy, the three solid vets that they are getting and Bogan's expiring could make it palatable for them.

If I were the Cs, I'd want a pick or a young talent. Schumpert has already been shopped and is potentially damaged goods, and us swallowing Stat's deal (and I know they are swallowing Lee's deal and Crash's and Bass' to a lesser extent)would normally require a draft pick, but 2018 is pretty far away and Hardaway makes up for that pick.

The Knicks have little to trade of any value. They get depth and immediate contributions as well as veteran stability from Wallace and Lee, and they are competitive for the next three years.

I'd try to expand the trade and get the Sixers involved to clear more space:

But the trades proposed so far would help the Cs, too.
