it's nice to know that no matter how bad things get, we'll always have the knicks make us laugh.

they should be called the nix.

I love this, I really hate the Knicks more than any franchise in any other sport! Their fans are the worst too, what do they have to be proud of?  They haven't been relevant in 40 years?  Spike Lee sucks too....If Melo is smart he gets out of there after this year, the team is a disaster.

In other news I'm hoping Brad Pitt trades Angelina Jolie to me for my cat, because hey what beautiful actress wouldn't want to move to Vermont? ::)

Sounds like even most Knick fans know this is an extreme pipe dream.

Not much of a story here.

Gotta feel bad for Knicks fans.  I feel like that entire organization has been playing the free agent lottery for the last 5 years.  Every year midseason it's not how is the team doing, it's whos a free agent next year or the year after.

It's far more likely the Knicks end up being forced to trade Melo to Boston than Boston being forced to trade Rondo to NY.

My guess is neither ends up being traded, and Melo leaves NY this off-season.  With any luck, Danny will find a way to clear cap room this summer, and the Celtics sign Melo as a FA.  Nothing better than rubbing it in the faces of Knicks fans.

I don't.   They think they are the center of the universe in every sport.  So does LA, their reporters start rumors.  They steal players from other teams all the time.   I felt bad for the after 9/11, but that good will has worn off.

shows the quality of the Knicks planning - hoping a highly-talented, yet content, superstar forces a trade to their franchise when they have nothing to trade nor has he made a peep about wanting to leave.

the thing they totally ignore though is that they have no assets to trade for Rondo! None! They mention the Nuggets and Melo, but Denver got a good deal for Melo with a nice package of prospects and picks. They got:

Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors' 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors' 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash.

The Knicks can offer us: Shumpert

Then they say Rondo's pending free agency could force us to trade him or lose him for nothing, but again, the Knicks have nothing to give so we would be better off letting Rondo walk and at least saving cap space if those were our only two options.

That's exactly right.  You have to give up something in order to get something.  They don't have it.  Impossible.

They're probably figuring they give us Amare and we'd have to throw in Sully, AB, KO and Vitor with Rondo to make the $ work.   ::)

I'm late to the party so I apologize if someone has already said this. Isn't purposely leaking a plan to get a player to force a trade from his current team tampering?
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Why would Rondo want to play with the snitchster?  Why would anybody?

This is silly.  Right now it's far more likely that Melo forces a trade to Boston.  Both scenarios are ridiculous, but if you were going to put money on one... put money on Melo to Boston.  Melo can opt out of his contract at the end of THIS season, his team is 9-19 with no draft picks.   There's a real fear out there that he'll sign with the Lakers this summer (they have cap space to make it happen and are currently in the midst of tanking for a lotto superstar)...

Boston, meanwhile, has plenty of assets to make it work.  They could offer Green, Humph's expiring contract, one of the youngs and as many draft picks as possible.

While it's possible Rondo could hold his team hostage and demand to be traded, Rondo doesn't have a no-trade in his contract.  Boston will have opportunities to trade Rondo over the next year ... even if the offers are "Asik + Lin" or "Granger + George Hill", those deals will be better than what the Knicks have to offer.  By all means, Rondo could sign with NY in summer 2015, but if that looks like a possibility, Rondo will be gone by Feb 2015.

I can't see a Rondo force out working. Melo did it, but Denver got some things back, and maybe even a lotto pick in a really good draft.

DA will not trade Rondo for a pile of crap, unless he's getting cap space and a chance to be in the top 3 in the draft, and with all the other teams going into tank mode that's going to be really hard to do.

Out side of Melo and Hardaway Jr, I don't have any interest in any of there players.

Even if Rondo pulls a move like that(which I can't see happening) DA I think would be the type of guy that would stick him were even the best trade for the C's came from, NOT were he wanted to go. He can also just wait and move some contracts and get Melo IF it's true Melo wants to play with Rondo.
