I think he will become an All-Star PF like a better David West.

Wes Unseld lite.

People call him poor man's Kevin Love. Sure, except Sully plays defense. Even when playing out of position EVERY NIGHT he's putting up (IIRC) average/slightly below average numbers.

I think he will score more and rebound less than Unseld.

But I agree with your point on the Sully-Love comparison.

both are good comparisons, though unseld was 6'7". just to add one more point, i think sully will be a much better long range shooter than unseld.

for his career, unseld averaged 10.8 points, 14 rebounds, 3.9 assists. sully will clearly score more over his career. i doubt that sully will pass as well as unseld, who was an astonishingly good passer. in terms of sheer strength, it will be very hard to surpass unseld. that guy was a bull under the basket.

actually, asik's numbers last year were closer to unseld's averaged.

I think sully tops out as a 18pt 10rb on again off again Allstar type. Similare level to Jamison, antoine walker, or Kenyon Martin when they where in there primes.

Get him playing PF and not center and give him an off season to work on his game and body and I think Kevin Love good is not out of reach only Sully will play defense.

I am not a huge fan of +/- but Sully's +/- on this particular team is astonishing.

I have used the Unseld comparison before as well. Similar body types and strength in the lower body that make them difficult to move from the post.

I think his highest possible ceilings is one of the best PFs of his time. I doubt he gets quite that high, but could be pretty darn good

This is one of the biggest reasons the Asik rumors got me so geeked. Asik is a good player, but I was more excited about moving Sully to his natural position of PF.

I think finding a true center at some point to play next to Sully is key to maximize his development.

David Lee on offense... except Sully can actually play defense.

Multiple-time all-star, I'd say.

EDIT: Oh, and a 3pt shot. Man I love that he has that in his repertoire.

Sullinger = David West

West a little more mobile but Sullinger can shoot the three. Both guys should have no business succeeding against the giants of the NBA, but utilizing their toughness, craftyness, skills and just plain out knowing how to play the game, they can.

There is nothing you can do when guys know how to play. And that is a good thing for us

David West was a 20-10 player in his prime and those are the type of stats that wouldn't surprise me for Sullinger. Obviously, health and fitness will be important to his progression.

I guess I'd say he will be a cross of West and Love. West's scoring and rebounding numbers with Love's passing and shooting range. I think defensively he will be better than both. He is a sound positional defender with good hands and a strong base. I think at his peak he could average a steal and block per game.

i haven't been this excited about a young Celtic since Rondo.  Actually... probably since Big Al.  Big Al's ceiling seemed limitless.

I'm not sure how good Sully can be.  He's still fat.  Will be interesting to see him when he's in shape.  He's the youngest player on our team and statistically the best.

Which basically means that next year you will be starting your "Its time to trade Sullinger" posts and threads like you did with and continue to do with Rondo?? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I see his ceiling as being a 10 time all star.

The guy has all the tools, talent.  I'm thinking at least 10 years as a 20/8 guy.  Still only 21.

Only thing that holds him back is injuries.
