What if Boston trades Jeff Green through a three team deal (CLE-PHI-BOS) that will land us Thaddeus Young. Would you be ok with it? What are the advantages of one over the other?

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I just have no idea why we would do such a thing. Sure, Thaddeus is a good player, but their games are pretty similar and their contract amounts and lengths are just about the same. On top of that, they were both drafted in the lottery in the same year (2007).

I don't think Jeff hates us and we don't hate him so I see no reason to trade him for a Jeff clone.

I'd rather keep Green. Think he's slightly better than Young.

I consider them equal players.  Very similar.

The difference, Green is a better larger SF and Young is a better small PF.

Considering the depth (and waste because of that) at PF, the Celtics are better of keeping Green at this point.

It's hard for me to call them similar when Young had 8 three-point attempts out of 958 shots last season while 182 out of 806 of Green's shot attempts were from behind the arc.

All of this especially the SF vs PF.

The stat doesnt lie about their shooting you are right. The role they fill is slightly different however and that will explain the 3pt shooting stat. Jeff Green has been pushed to be a focal part of the Celtic's offense as a scorer and Thaddeus Young is less integral to the 76er offense as they have had other people filling the scoring role.

No way no how unless Philly throws in their #1.

We can only dream. Philly's pick is a definite top 5 pick.
