Obviously it's too early to know if Green will really get traded to Cleveland or another team but if it happens, doesn't Danny Granger makes sense as his replacement?

He is a free agent next summer so Danny would gamble on him being productive back from his injury this season and then assess whether he could be part of the team's future.

J. Crawford + K. Humphries for Granger works straight-up. I'm not sure Indiana would do it (although they would get a scoring weapon in Crawford to play off the bench and a useful big man in case of injuries or foul trouble). Maybe toss in a pick too but I don't think Granger is worth that much.

Thoughts?

It's an option if Ainge can't get Melo. I really think if Green's gone that's who we're going at in the offseason or try and get him with our stash of picks. If Woodsons fired and the Knicks continue to implode, Tyson coming off a broken leg injury doesn't look good, Melo isn't going to stay there. If reports were true we know he would like to play with Rondo.

Zero interest in Granger.

Yes, it sounds like a realistic scenario. I'm not sold on Melo but I think the Knicks would bite for that offer if Melo basically tells them he is gone after this season.

Zero interest in Granger.

Even if he serves as a one-year rental and we're basically "forced" to trade Green to get Asik?

No.  I don't see the Asik trade as a "win now" move.

It has a more of a "we can fill a harder to find position now because it will be easier to replace a SF through the draft" move.

The next move is to force feed Wallace some more minutes to see if they can somehow get at least a little trade value for him.

I think Indiana is committed to seeing how he recovers from his injury first and will trade him only if he doesn't look like he will be useful in the playoffs.

Granger IMO would be unlikely.
Melo could be a possibility.
I'm thinking Gordon Hayward!

I doubt Granger would be the kind of player he was before the injuries, so I would pass
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Yes, and for the record trading Green for a Asik would be a dumb move. But yes, I don't have any interest on Granger.

Agree here.....not on board with trading Green for Asik ,   And not high on Granger anymore. For anybody ..  I d give up a pick just to unload Wallace s. contract on somebody

Don't see Bird trading him. They've paid him a lot of money, and he could be very useful in short minutes in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, I wouldn't give Crawford for a Granger rental. And I wouldn't give Granger a FA deal unless he's super cheap -- he rarely plays.

I hope not. I want players on the team that actually get on the court and stay healthy.

We already have our aging sf in Wallace. I gosh darn hope we don't get Granger. 2009 pre crutches Granger, yeah. But yeah, no.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

This team has to get bigger, since they've been exploited by big shooting guards, centers, and power forwards. If Ainge really wants to maximize the draft and trades, then send Green for Asik directly or indirectly, sign Lance Stephenson as the big guard in the offseason, and use the draft picks to fill the small forward slot. Indiana already at $65 million for 2014-15 even with Granger off the books. While Green much better than Asik, big men who can defend the rim are hard to come by. Sacrifice Bradley for more future picks.
