How much does Asik make? Hoopshype can't be right...

It's right as well as wrong. There's a difference between how much Asik makes, and how much of a cap hit he actually gives (which is approx. 8 million or so).

Lee's been playing great though Lee/Bass seems good enough for me not liking having to give up an extra pick, feel like we're getting took back to the wood shed here.
Lee has been playing ok in limited minutes. I wouldn't call that "great", I'd call it replaceable.

I'd go with great for Lee.
Your prerogative. I'm not going to lose sleep over trading a player who gets 16 minutes per game.

This. We literally have five sgs. I mean I like Lee and he's had some good games this year but give Brooks his minutes and let him develop. Once Rondo's back it's going to be a three guard rotation between Craw, Rondo, and AB anyway. Lee isn't going to have minutes

I think Bogans might make a run at Lee's minutes, so Brooks will have a competition on his hands without a doubt.

His cap hit is 8 million and change the next 2 yrs, but his actual money made will be 5 mill and 15 mill this year and next, respectively.

Has to do with the way the CBA allotted the offer sheet he signed. Morey is a genius.

I can't believe you give up Bass, Lee and a 1st round pick and all you get is Asik.

I'm just glad he's played well enough to be included in trade talks. That seemed pretty unlikely after last year.
He's #3 in the NBA this year in 3P%! That's a thing!

Beat writer for the Rockets seems to feel that there would be more to it than Asik from the Rox' end:

If Rockets are to deal for Lee and Bass without a third team's cap space help, Asik and Motiejunas contracts could make deal work.

For whatever it is worth, or not, Motiejunas, Asik share an agent. D-Mo desperate to play somewhere. He'd prefer it be here, but needs time.

Would also work, and bring cost savings to team that got Brewer if wanted that. RT @AdamSpolane: @Jonathan_Feigen what about Ronnie brewer

However, I'm not sure Houston needs more outgoing salary to match. Asik for Lee + Bass should work.

Does D. Motiejunas have any potential?  I haven't heard anything about him?

He's such a genius that he's huffing and puffing about having to pay Lin and Asik a combined $30 million (!) next season.

bogans is old and his contract doesn't make sense but had to be signed to work w/ garnett pierce deal HOWEVER he is still a better player than brooks
to me brooks looks worse off than gerald green did when he was in boston as a youngster
great offensive shooting abilities but nothing else and appears to have low bbiq
if that celtics can trade him for anything great, i see europe in his future
bogans is going to give you a wallace like performance off the bench when called upon

Pregame has surely started, and I'm still in the office. Does anyone have our official starting lineup for tonight?

I believe this was a major deterrent to the other teams wanting to sign him.

Now Morey is getting a first round pick out of Asik.

As far as trade value goes, Morey won.

Take it with a grain of salt, though, since I've recently been on a slump as far as the accuracy of my info goes.

This potential trade keeps bringing the Vitali Potapenko trade to mind.  Our gaping hole at center being filled by a Euro big man.

It still amazes me that Pitino gave up a lottery pick for an inferior player.  I don't think Danny will get burned in similar fashion.
Potapenko was nowhere near the player Asik is, though.

It's kind of exciting that the Celtics would have the best Euro player on the roster since Dino Radja. For over 15 years it's been nothing but busts like Welsch, Moiso, and Potapenko.

Yes, we all know Pitino loves to tell the story of how he had the inside track on Nowitzki, but you don't get points for coming up short. It turns out another team had the more "inside" inside track than you, Rick!

Wrong. He's such a genius that he paid Omer Asik $5 million for one season of elite defensive play and rebounding, the biggest thing outside of Parsons propelling them to the playoffs, and he turned that into a serviceable 4 and a future 1st while someone else pays the remaining 20 million in the deal

I don't have much faith that Ainge can also get Motiejunas included in the deal.

But if he could, wow. Another 7-footer with shooting range out to three. Similar skill set to Olynyk.
