Wallace is not only the starting SF, he's also the only SF. And he's been worse than expected (which is saying something, given that I didn't expect much).

That's not true. I've personally been very impressed with Wallace's hustle and the spark he brings off the bench. Sure he's limited offensively, BUT he also attacks the basket, rebounds and plays with energy which brings out the best in his teammates.

To me, he's been a pleasant surprise and bright spot actually. Ditto for Humphries who was great last night while Bass was on the bench. Humph is a decent rebounder, played Kevin Love tough and has a good mid-range game just like Bass.

The Brooklyn two are a lot of better than most people in Boston gave and give them credit for.

Wallace will start.

And that is what I'm afraid of the most

Can't agree with this. Wallace was starting to carve out a nice niche as a stabilizing presence with the second unit in terms of bringing the ball up the floor and running the offence a little bit, but it's abundantly clear that now that his physical gifts are declining, he really has little to bring to the table other than experience: his shot has been erratic, he's not very good off the ball, drives to the basket have been few and far between, and on top of that, he's turning it over like there's no tomorrow.

I wasn't expecting a world beater, but for someone who gets 20+ minutes off the bench I was hoping for a bit more than 8.5 PER.

He's so slow moving laterally these days that you can barely start him at center.

which is why he wont get traded. celts rely on the 3 ball too much to let him go and his defense is key

A Rondo-Bradley-Wallace-Sullinger-Asik starting lineup would be brutal to watch offensively.

Solving the problem of finding a good starting 3 is a better problem to have than finding a good starting 5.

I'd say Asik is an average starting center though.

Just cause there aren't many good centers in the league doesnt mean you should just try and acquire/overpay for the guy just cause he's there.

If the object is to get worse this year than I guess it makes sense.

I'd much rather have Green and sully/bass/olynlk/vitor starting at center than Asik and a guy like Wallace at SF and its not close.

I'm really not worried about playing Brook lopez every night

we trade away our most athletic player
our only quality starting sf
we had better get a starting sf in return
we give up on a reasonably paid good all around player

the list can go on

we are log jammed at pf and sg granted some of our sg brooks (isn't nba player), bogans (older overpaid player) but never mind that

we need to trade a pf for sure, bradley wants too much money he can be moved and make a pretty sweet deal, crawford sign and trade
green is the only sf we have worth a hoot, put him on a wing with a rondo fast break  ::)

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I would 100% start Lee. I know he is mostly a sg, but a lot of sgs are 'swingmen' who can play both positions. I would see what he has to offer. We know he is a decent two way player who would play well within the offense and defense. Wallace is doing his thing in the 2nd unit. He is just not a starter anymore.

With all of this being said, if we trade Green for Asik, I will probably slit my wrists...
