clear cap room in one huge 3 way trade

Celtics get 2 expirings - Pau Gasol and Danny Granger

Lakers get Jeff Green but have to take Gerald Wallace and MarShon Brooks

Pacers get Bass, Lee, and Crawford

we get 30M in cap savings this summer

You'd have to consider it for the flexibility. But the question is what's the plan for all that cap space.

First of all, I love my Celtics. But Boston is not a City top young players want to sign free agent contracts. Even with the History guys don't come to Boston. So when we have decent young players we keep them, or trade them for better players who are not on their last leg. There are a few teams in the league that will always be able to sign big names(Lakers, Heat), we are not one of those teams .

You take advantage of big market teams who are shedding cap space and steal their draft picks.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

That's not a great plan for cap space. Its one of the options but you can't count on those opportunities coming up.

If you do this sort of deal I assume you're moving Rondo if you're not using the space on FAs.

There is no way the Lakers do that trade.  None at all.  Even if we through a ton of first round picks, the Lakers don't make that trade.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

like the vim and vigor here Jeff... but doesn't look too practical for the Pace or the Lake.

i suspect that if the Cs decided to trade Rondo, they could potentially included A LOT of outgoing salary. short of that, i think it's going be hard to dump Wallace or Lee on top of the likes of Bass and Green.

but, to follow up on your concept, who says no to the following?

BOS Trades: Rondo, Wallace, Bass, Lee
CHA Trades: Gordon, Sessions, McRoberts, Walker, Taylor, Adrien

Cs cut the rest of the Jersey boys (Humphries, Bogans, Brooks) in order to make room for the deal.

Right now, the Cats say no. But if Rondo returns and looks like himself?
