And Jeff Green as a 21 year old rookie averaged 13.4, 6.1, and 1.9 per 36 shot 44.4% from 2PT range and 74.4% from the line.

I'm not sure I see your point.
I'm sure you consider playing on two 20-win teams under PJ Carlesimo a "great situation".
No, but Carlesimo is a better coach (as is Brooks who took over in year 2) and Durant was a far better teammate than anything MKG has had in Charlotte.

But again doesn't that kind of support my position anyway.  Green was pretty darn bad at 21 and has gotten a lot better by the time he hit 27.  MKG is 20 and has a much more athletic and powerful body than Green.  He has a pretty solid free throw stroke, plays solid defense already, and hustles when he is out there.  He is raw and awkward, but the talent is there.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Jeff Green was arguably way better in his first two NBA seasons than MKG. The point is that Jeff Green is Jeff Green. MKG may end up being anyone in a range between Kedrick Brown and Gerald Wallace. The incremental improvement over Jeff Green kind of, sort of, maybe, at some point in the future is not work the risk of giving away a serviceable NBA starter for a complete dud.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
MKG is a much better rebounder than Green has ever been.  He is a better passer.  He is also a more efficient shooter from the field and similar from the line.  This from a 2nd year player in a bad situation.

I'd trade Green for MKG straight up and wouldn't give it a second thought.  Of course that trade doesn't work financially.  Maybe something like Humphries and Green for MKG and Gordon.  Perhaps send Lee and also get Biyombo or send Bass and get Biyombo and Haywood.

Green has much more value than MKG at this stage of their careers. MKG's shooting is a big question mark and that's his let down.
Greens defensive capabilities make up 50% of his value and his three point shooting is becoming more and more deadly.

The straight swap never happens because from Danny's perspective you've got a very reasonable contract at 9 million a year on a guy who'll get you 16 points and defend the best small forwards in the NBA at an elite level.

If we want to contend he's a great 3rd option scorer next to someone like Melo and Rondo. Again, his defense and versatility is just phenomenal value for a team that wants the ultimate role player with the occasional All star level game.

Any Green for MKG deal brings back immediate expirings and/or picks
ie:

Green+Brooks+2nd rounder
for
MKG + Ben Gordon (Danny squeezes very hard for future lottery protected pick.)

Read that last line again. One more time.
