If the Bulls want to salvage this season and perhaps make a run to the title this year they might actually consider this (if Rondo is close to coming back after Xmas).

While Rose's ceiling is still higher, he has two knee injuries now and won't be back before the playoffs or next season.

So why not throw in 1st rounder, say the better of the Celtics' 2014 or the one they get from Brooklyn/Atlanta?  Maybe even throw in Crawford or one of Bass/Humprhies?

I'd do it!

Why would I trade a PG who has one knee problem for another PG who has two knee problems?!

well that's a prime reason this is a horrible idea.

I'd have a hard time trading a healthy Rondo straight up for a healthy Rose.

Rose is the better scorer of the two but Rondo is better at everything else.  now the OP want to trade an almost cleared-to-play Rondo for an out for the season (and maybe longer) Rose AND throw in a 2014 draft pick --> the better of the 2 we have   ::)

ugh.

Rondo AND a 1st?  Absolutely, now way.

Not after Rose's latest injury.

Wow, you guys really value Rondo over an MVP??  Yes, it's a risk that Rose has had two knee surgeries, but Rondo has had one.  So the Bulls would be assuming a risk too.

I thought most people on this board would say "The Bulls would never do that!"  Guess I was wrong.

As for Rondo "doing everything else better" I disagree.  His matador defense, no matter how many steals he may get, is laughable.  The only time he plays tough defense is when he gets matched up with LeBron and can put on a show.

Gimme a guy who plays defense all the time, is an elite scorer, and is still a young (younger than Rondo) MVP.

Ok then, how about a straight-up swap, Rondo for Rose?  You guys would still say no?

Rose has played in 50 games the past three years. He's owed 20 million per year for the next three years. You can't trade for him with that level of risk unless you're giving up very little value.

Rondo and a potential lottery pick is a lot of value.

For the record the Bulls would never do it, but the C's would never do it too.

Ok, at least you're admitting the Bulls wouldn't do it either.  I agree Rose is a risk, I just think Rondo is a risk too and there's more reward with Rose (if he returns healthy and has his same explosiveness eventually).

Rose is a much bigger risk than Rondo.

3 Years worth of injury plagued, compared to a single ACL injury. Remember he was banged up and in and out of the lineup the year he blew his ACL in the first round.

Combine that with his contract being 2 years longer for bigger money he could become a Grant Hill like albatross. No one is trading for Rose, because of his contract.

If I had a crystal ball and knew for an absolute certainty that Rose was going to come back 100% and that Rondo would never regain his pre-injury form, I'd do it.

I think most other people would too. But I don't think any one of us can tell the future.

^what he said

At this point, I am convinced Rose is made out of glass, he took a whole year off, came back played like 10 games, and out for the season again. Convince me he will be the same player coming back from two season ending injuries. If his body is ready, I bet you, his mind is not

In which case, Chicago would certainly never do it.

Good God, NO. Hold the #1 I still would not do it. At this current time there is a lot more value in Rondo and his contract than there is in Rose with his injuries and massive, and I mean MASSIVE, deal.

Rose is the most overrated MVP in the history of the league.  Fine player, but not deserving of the hype he received while healthy.   Trading Rondo for Rose would be like dumping one mildly injured overrated player for one severely injured overrated player.

If the pick was 2015 and was contingent on Rose playing at least 60 games during the 2014-15 season, then I'd probably do it.
