Who would fit better?

IMO this team is far closer becoming relevant then I thought at the beginning of the season.
Bradley's offense is rounding into form, Crawford is a find and I have high hopes for him as first guard off bench, 6th man microwave.
Green is a solid 2-3 option sully is a beast.
Then of course rr is on his way back.
All we really need is a starting center.
We could go two ways:
Get adefensive anchor/ rebounder.Asik is available and fills the role
Or go for offense and get Monroe.
I believe we could acquire either with out touching the core I mentioned at the beginning of the post.
It would would require oly, and bass or lee, the clips pick and expiring contracts.
If either could be had for that package who would ya'll prefer?

I don't believe we're only a center away from being better than either IND or MIA, but if I had to pin a center that would fit this team I would say Marc Gasol.

Is that realistic? Probably not,  but that's our best fit in my opinion.

We're probably one player who's better than Rondo and an above-average Center away from being a legitimate threat to Miami or Indiana.

If we made those deals we'd probably need another offseason to rebuild the supporting cast though.

Just to be clear I don't think that either Asik or Monroe will single handedly bring us to the promised land.
 I do think that they are both talented centers who would fill a big need and most importantly are available this season and could be had with out gutting the core.
We would still need to add talent and would have multiple draft picks, the TE and what ever expiring contracts we still have after the deal.

Auerbach always built around a top center. Ainge will too. I am not sure how or when, but the center will be defensive minded.

Once the center is here, Ainge will need more offense. I just don't see this lineup offering enough offense...getting there though.

I would not give up Bass in a deal for Asik, but would in a deal for MGasol.

Heard/read that Atlanta would trade Millsap for Asik, don't think we can match that. I understand why Atlanta would do that, but they would be way over paying IMO.

I don't see a realistic scenario were we can get a very good center.

I'd love to have Monroe, but does he actually play Center?

Doesn't seem like the rim-protector type that would help complement Sullinger either.

I would take a look at danny granger his expiring contract looks great and he could turn out a solid player because he was never realy athletic and his jumpshot is pure

I'd like them both, because I feel that if we got the two of them, we would be a contender, despite both's free throw shooting. I really don't see how the Pacers nor the cHeat could match up against both Monroe and Asik as well as Sully. But that's probably a pipe-dream.

If I had to choose one of Monroe/Asik, it would be Monroe. Monroe is a VERY intelligent player. He could learn to play D and so still has upside.

Asik is 4 years older, and while both rebound at a comparable rate, Asik pretty much is what he is: a tough, physical center who bounds and plays good D.

They are the same size, but Monroe can score. Put him next to a frontcourt-mate like Sully who can pass and RR who will get him the ball where he wants it all the time, and he could be a dominant offensive force.
