  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Celtics
Outgoing: Green, Humphries, Lee, Nets 2014 1st, Celtics 2015 1st, Clippers 2015 1st.
Incoming: Anthony, Monroe

Pistons
Outgoing: Villanueva, Monroe
Incoming: Green, Lee

Raptors
Outgoing: Derozan
Incoming: Villanueva ,Brooks, Celtics 2015 1st, Clipper 2015 1st

Knicks
Outgoing: Anthony
Incoming: Derozan, Humphries, Nets 2014 1st

Team incentives:
The Celtics instantly jump to contender status upon Rondo’s return without getting too old.
The Pistons bring better balance to roster, without losing much talent
The Raptors continue to tank while shedding long term salary and gaining a few picks
The Knicks get a young 20 point per game scorer and decent pick in a deep draft for a guy likely to bail.

The Celtics roster
Rondo, Bradley, Anthony, Sullinger, Monroe
Crawford, Wallace, Bass, Olynyk, Faverani

What do you think?  :)

You'd have to offer the Knicks more if you get Melo to agree to an extension.

I was nodding yes all the way until I got to the Knicks part.  I don't think it is nearly enough to get Carmelo away from them.

Couldn't you just do the deal with Detroit (Green/Lee for Monroe/Villanueva) and stop right there?  Then maybe try to trade picks for Derozan (to replace Green), and call it a day.

Getting Carmelo would at a minimum need to include Rondo and even then and only if the Knicks really crash and burn this year.

I definitely low balled the Knicks, but with the way things are going they are likely to lose Melo for nothing this free agency. Their season so far is like watching a train wreck while it's happening. No way Melo resigns with them this off-season. A young scorer and a few picks is the most I'd offer for a guy they probably won't be able to keep otherwise.
