My first thought: Uggh, don't help Miami.

My second thought (upon seeing mentions of James Jones, Rashard Lewis, James Ennis, and low draft picks): Uggh, what a pile of crap.

Best I could come up with is:

Crawford, Lee
for
Chalmers, Battier, Miami 1st rounder (2016)

Saves us 2 years on the Lee deal, maybe enough extra $$ to keep Bradley. Pick comes after the possibility of a breakup in Miami.

I was about to suggest Lee as a possible reason for Boston to do the deal. I like the idea of a future first from Miami too but it'd probably be protected up the wazoo.
why get rid of Lee though? his contract isn't bad he's been solid

I think there is a fairly simple trade that could work

Norris Cole + Greg Oden + 2014 2nd from MIN ($2,013,493)

for

Crawford ($2,162,419)

To be honest, I am not sure I believe that Miami is really interested in Crawford but if they are, I would be happy to trade him.  Sure, he is playing well now but I don't see him as all that important in the future.

I really dont see what miami has to offer for Crawford. There's 28 other teams. Danny could get a better offer elsewhere.

Even if it ends up turning into two second-round picks, I don't think it's likely that you can get much more for him than the protected Philly pick that turns into two seconds if the 76ers aren't out of the lottery this or next season.  Since Miami owes a pick to Cleveland in 2015, the earliest first they can deal is 2017.

To not risk being banned I'll just say....

I hope Craw proves he can play well with a reduced role, like he did for the first 4 games while behind AB in rotations. Sure he didn't like it in Washington but he'll be behind RR, that's a guy he shouldn't mind coming off for. He should still get minutes at SG, basically just snatching Pressey's minutes while still getting some of RR since he will probably get fewer minutes to start (if Craw does well, we won't HAVE to play RR so many minutes like seasons b4)... hopefully meaning he becomes the backup we always wanted for RR (at least for this season).
It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

I don't think crawford is in the long term plans and I worry he will struggle with rondo back. With all that said I would trade him for what ever they can get while he is productive

Well, we know that Ainge already tried to get Lee included in the Brooklyn deal with Terry being the eventual compromise. I wouldn't mind having his deal off the books because when you're rebuilding the years become more important than the AAV.

Michael Jackson has a better chance making a record straight from the grave.

If we can unload Gerald Wallace's contract along with this, I say do it.

On Miami trading a future pick, I assume they can always trade the right to swap to avoid the two-years-in-a-row issue?

So for example we get the right to swap 2016-2018, and then automatically get it in 2019 if the swap hasn't happened.

Of course this only helps if/when we pass them in the standings =).

Now that would be hilarious if he got traded back to Boston.

DA must be smiling.  Buzz that the defending champs are eyeing JC has to have a positive effect on his value.

I think that JC, Sully, Lee, Bradley and Bass have all improved their trade value over the past 2 months.  Green probably too, expecially over the last month as he's proving to be more consistent and more aggressive.  Olynik, Humphries and Vitor also have value, not to mention the bevy of picks.   Danny may decide to be patient, but he has to be very pleased at the steadily growing value of his players.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Greg Oden, James Jones + 2018 first round pick.
Bring Greg up to Boston, have a real good look at those knees. Get him practicing with Rondo and the young guys.
Give ourselves a pick when Miami projects a decline if Lebron is gone.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.
