WHY FOR KINGS?Cohen’s Analysis: Acquiring Rudy Gay – while controversial in some regards – was a sign that the new ownership group in Sacramento desperately wants to change the franchise’s approach to architecting a roster.Though it would jeopardize the Kings’ opportunity to land a gem in the draft – especially in 2014 when most expect the class to be unparallel to year’s past – adding Rajon Rondo would completely change the way we all view Sacramento. While it’s indeterminate how Rondo will play once he returns from his ACL injury, uniting him with Gay and DeMarcus Cousins would give the Kings a legitimate Big Three.
Cohen’s Analysis: First off, it is not a guarantee Rondo will be the same player when he returns from his injury. Second, while Boston has gotten off to a surprising start this season, it certainly doesn’t have enough talent to advance far into the playoffs. And third, after already acquiring future draft picks from the Nets in the Garnett/Pierce deal, they might as well collect a few more and build primarily through the draft.
