Can't see Danny keeping both these guys. So who goes?
Answer probably isn't as straight forward as you think.
If Crawford can be signed for something like 7 million over 3 years, does Danny bite?
Does Danny think Crawford would accept a bench role 'mentally'? Seemed to really hurt his mentality coming from Washington to warm the bench.

Or does Crawford get offered 10 million a year by another team?
Remember Rondo can walk in 15 months and he's coming off the knee operation- these things weigh on the ultimate decision. Rondo is the better player, but if Crawford plays like this for the rest of his career, is he worth considering?

"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

i don't think Ainge can trade Rondo due to his meaning to the
society and their relationship...unless Rondo ask for max contract
so Rondo is a keeper and we try to keep JC as well
i think he wants/likes to be here under Stevens's coach who believe in him, unlike Wizard years

This is the most amazing thing Stevens has done, turned Crawford into a good NBA player....I would move the guy that gives you the best deal??  Whatever gives you the best in return.

Why can't we just keep Crawford to be the third guard off the bench?  Ainge has tried so hard to find a reliable backup to Rondo over the years, and finally has one.

Huh? Obvious answer here is Rondo. Don't see Crawford making multiple all star teams any time soon...
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

I'm glad that Crawford's game is evolving, but as we seen the last couple of nights (with legit PG's)we need someone that can takeover the game in the last couple of mins or get their teammates in that position. Crawford isn't there yet, but he can be a very nice backup for Rondo and will give a different flow for the team.

This reminds me of when TWill was having some good games and people were wondering if we should keep him instead of Rondo...lol. Albeit Crawford is having a much better time at PG than TWill did.

Better off without Rondo, part two. I thought this debate was settled last season?

Certainly can keep both, but if it financially isn't feasible, you would get more in a trade for Rondo, but then again Rondo is the better player.  So I guess it really depends on just what is out there in trade for Rondo and what the exact state of the team is at the time of the trade.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

seriously?  this is actually being asked?

hmm, keep the all-star PG that is the top passer in the league, capable of putting up a triple-double in any game and can do the same in the playoffs OR keep a 1/4 season flash-in-the-pan who's D, ballhandling and passing are all worse.

HMMM, decisions, decisions.  ::)

better option is keep Crawford as 1st guard off the bench since he's shown he can back up either guard spot PROVIDED Danny doesn't pick up a legit starting-quality SG in this draft.

Keep the guy who is a top 5 at his position and can flip the switch in the playoffs

or

the guy putting up stats on a bad team in a contract year.

Depends on what Danny can get for Rondo. If Danny can't get another star for him, I'm assuming he'll stay.

I think Crawford stays either way--unless someone offers a crazy deal for or to him this summer.
