Some choice excerpts...

Quote
The story of Kendrick Perkins, whatever he does from this day forward, will begin and end with two Very Bad Moves. Off the court, I mean. Everyone knows Perk doesn't have moves on the court, because Perk is less a basketball player than a piece of heavy equipment that someone dragged onto the court from a rock quarry.

Neither of these Very Bad Decisions is Perkins's fault. But because Perk is so demonstrably inept on the court, he stands as the physical embodiment of what these two Very Bad Decisions actually were: a breach of the public trust.

Quote
So here's Kendrick Perkins, fee-fi-fo-fumming his away up and down the court for 20 minutes a game. To watch him catch the ball at the foul line, imitate a dribble-like motion two times, plunk the ball between his massive hands as if to say "Namaste," and immediately pick up his pivot foot is not altogether joyless. (Schadenfreude is technically joy.) Sadly, Perk's play now seems like a prolonged exercise in ensuring that "bull in a china shop" is one day supplanted as the go-to metaphor for awkward/disastrous predicaments by "Kendrick Perkins in the low post."

I'm still shocked that there is still a sizeable minority of Celtics fans who still think that trading Perkins for Greens wasn't a heist. The money, the lack of production...it's really something what a steal that ended up being.

Perk had his moments here and we probably don't win a championship with out him.

it's better to trade a player a yr. early than a yr. too late. I think DA realized the value wasn't there at the right moment. though it would have been nice to see what this team did with him still in the line up that season.

I was sad to see perk go but knew green was a great catch (imagine if kris tic stayed?)

however I don't like anybody picking on perk, no reason for it, guy has played through injuries and this is what his game is now, it isn't like he isn't trying/working

Well, we shouldn't mix up two questions. First, the Perk/Nate for Green/Krstic was great at the time and in hindsight, it was injuries to Shaq/JO/Krstic what kept the Cs from a championship, not losing Perk.

Second, Perk was very good for the Cs, and he's never been the same after his injury. That's why Danny traded him, he didn't want to pay Perk all that money. He deserved a 6-7M per year contract, not 9M, but his play level is more like a LLE player at this point.

That said, I love Perk, and I think all the beating he gets from the media is ungranted, and makes me angry. In fact, right now the Cs could use Perk even at his terrible contract. I've banged the drum of helping OKC to get Asik by sending Houston Bass+Lee, to get back Perk+PJ3+2014 Dallas first rounder from OKC.

Perk could help in developing the young kids during this season. Then, next season he's a big expiring contract to unload at the trade deadline. Celtics can afford to downgrade talent this year, one step backwars to make a big jump next season. And finally, he's Rondo's best buddy, and you want Rondo (and FlCeltsFan, too) happy.
