I don't know if there was ever a way for him to come to Boston via trade or free agency, but i'm so glad he is not. I'm watching the Pistons vs. Heat game, and he is by FAR, the lowest IQ player i've ever seen. He has airballed a couple of threes, and he takes contested two point shots even though he can't shoot. He has no idea what his strengths and weaknesses are, even after all this time he's been in the league. Mo Cheeks has his work cut out for him with Smith.

As long as we have Rondo .......we aren't  immune. From him......one day when we are contenders again ....Smith is getting age ....he might start playing for the right reasons.

I absolutely get the knocks on Smith, but he is a very good player even if he doesn't have the best offensive instincts. He is slightly overpaid, but not a max guy. I always thought of him on Jeff Green's plane and there was really no reason to have both of them. He is also trying to fit in as a sf when he is clearly a pf. Once Detroit trades Monroe for a star at another position, he should get more comfortable. A Drummond/Smith defensive big man combo is very dangerous.

In my opinion, the Pistons should trade Smith before Monroe. There aren't any teams with two good big men. Detroit could own the glass/paint if they keep both guys. I think Smith is more talented than Jeff Green, but Jeff Green plays within himself and plays within an offense much better than Josh Smith does. Josh Smith is the type of player who can get coaches fired because he cannot play within an offense.

Considering his level of talent and the things he tries to do he's something of a new Antoine.

Cosign.

And I'll add: Thank you, Danny, for not going after the one-dimensional Bargnani.

Twan without the Friday fried chicken, and with amazing defense. Antoine could ball on O though, when he wasn't taking a dozen 3's, that is.
My pic is now, and will be Fab Melo until he posts his first official NBA dbl-dbl. This may be permanent.

What morons wanted Ainge to go after Bargnani?

Is there anybody out there who doesn't think Toine was a considerably better player than Josh Smith? You can say they are on a similar level in terms of skills, but Antoine was a true leader who helped make his teammates much better than they were. I don't see that at all in Smith.

As for trading Smith instead of Monroe, that's just not going to fly. Monroe will net them a much better return than Smith will. I really do believe that once Smith slides back to pf, he will be a very solid player for the Pistons.

I would have actually liked to see what Stevens would do with J-Smoove. And the Detroit front court for that matter.
