What do they need and could be get one of these five?  Or, do we need another PF?  Jason Thompson is 6'11"!!

Thoughts??

Not really interested in Jason Thompson.

He's been in the league a while now and never really managed to take the next step from being just an okay player with the physical tools to be better than okay.

Not to mention, the Celtics have 5 PFs, too.

How about Courtney Lee and Brooks and a future second rounder for Patrick Peterson, Jimmer Fredette, Ndiaye (if he agrees, which he should)?

Thoughts?

OK, I am finally going to bed:-)))

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I want Jason Thompson.

Especially if we add the idea of having Greg Monroe as well. Thompson has always been a solid rebounder. And with KO and Sullinger (and the pipe dream of Monroe), we could use an athletic body next to them that has length.

(BTW, according to Hoopdata, Thompson shoots 42% from 16-23 feet (0.9 - 2.2), so even though a little, he can stretch the floor. And in todays NBA where the game is all about spacing, it could be nice...)

He's actually above-okay. His career Per 36's are actually good (13.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1 block, .498 shooting). He has better numbers than Patterson and Hayes but for some reason he's not getting more playing time. But he's more than okay.

Now he's not as skilled as our bigs in Sully and KO, but what he lacks in skill, he makes up of athleticism. He will compliment those two well, as he can cover Centers and PF's, so he gets the more quicker opponent big. And if we can get him for Lee or Brooks, why not?

The C's top three players in efficiency so far this year are all PF's: Humphries, Sully and Bass.

Reportedly, Sacramento is making everyone except Cousins and McLemore available for picks and/or young players.

He also owns a career average of .078 win shares per 48 minutes, and his career defensive rating is 110.

Too many PFs on Boston already.

Jason Thompson isn't enough of an upgrade to take on that type of long term payroll (~4 yrs, $25mil). Boston need to keep their cap flexibility for All-Star talents. Not waste it on the help.

The final year of Thompson's deal is unguaranteed.

The only deal i'd do for Thompson is with Wallace. It makes slightly more sense for SAC than the average team (that is, less than zero), since they could really use a nails veteran in the locker room, they have junk at SF, and Thompson is superfluous.

Wallace and Bogans for Thompson and Salmons works. Would be nice. If not you could take back Outlaw instead of Salmons and drop Bogans.

Are these bad numbers or percentages?  Give me some context if you would please Phosita.  Thanks buddy!!

Anything below .1 win shares per 48 is mediocre.

A defensive rating higher than 105 or so is considered quite high (lower is better).
