I would like to point to the Knicks Celtics game today.   Did all watch it?   Anyone see Melo lead his team to victory with his all star play.  It was another classic example of the league hyping someone as the latest and greatest.  Melo could not lead a thirsty horse to water.

lol so far hes lead em to the bottom of the division they should trade him while they still have the chance so they can build a future thats what a smart GM would do... poor knicks

If the Knicks were smart they'd take a couple of our Brooklyn picks and rebuild.  But the Knicks aren't smart, they will just bring in the wrong players and coaches to get the most from Melo.

If Melo is smart, he'll leave NY by FA.

  He doesn't have to lead the team, just score. (with some defense, rebounding and the like thrown in)

Number 1, Melo hasnt been hurt like T-Mac at all. 2, T-Mac never had anyone good to play with. 3, all this anti-Melo talk reminds me a LOT of the anti-Pierce talk circa 2007.

Melo and PP are the EXACT same player. Their games are built on deception and scoring, you bring Melo in to the C's and he will perform extremely well. No one believed that "selfish" Paul Pierce  was going to buy in, but he did. Why can't Melo? Why not Melo? Because he's been on crappy teams his whole career?

Me too.  You should check out the Knicks board.  Knick fans are tired of Melo as well.

Do I hope they're good Samaritans? Sure. Is it a requirement for my enjoyment of their play? Absolutely not.

The average fan knows almost nothing about the average player by design. That's why it's so easy to say something like "Carmelo Anthony hangs around with thugs and drug dealers" while ignoring the fact that Rondo hangs out with people like Snoop (if you're into the whole "character assassination by virtue of photographed peers and assumed insight into their lifestyle by extension" thing) or Jared Sullinger was arrested for domestic assault.

That sort of thinking irritates me. Do I really care that Sullinger might've beaten up his girlfriend? Not any more than I care about people engaged domestic violence in general. Do I really care that Carmelo was in the stop snitching video? Not any more than I would take issue with anyone else on camera in that situation. etc. Athletes can be terrible people just like anyone else. You don't need to be Nelson Mandela to put the ball in the hoop.
