Rondo+ Carmelo+ (insert player here?) on Celtics= Legit contender.

So what's the likely-hood Melo puts it together and realizes that Boston is just a better managed organization- and he'll have a better chance at a championship in Boston?

PG Rondo *14 million
SG (draft pick ie: Selden around 8th-12th?)
SF Melo *18 million
PF Sully (or trade Sully for a center, because Melo can play small ball PF like Lebron)
C/PF  15-18 million x 4 years.

Some people are saying Marc Gasol and he'd be my number 1 option, even ahead of Bosh- but he loves the Grizzlies and he's an FA the year after Rondo (If I remember correctly). Unless he's injured I think they do everything they can do re-sign him.

We probably need a running big that protects the rim.

We've also read the rumors about Carmelo already deciding that he's leaving the Knicks- we've also read Carmelo upset with the Knicks and his bum squad. Even when Chandler gets back they'll still stink for the most part. I'm assuming they'll be better than us, but they won't come close to competing with anyone other than Detroit and Atlanta or Brooklyn. (assuming those teams are healthy).

We also heard about an old coach from Oak Hill claiming Melo was actively recruiting Rondo. ( You don't have to be a genius to know this- Melo's been reported to have continuously asked the Knicks to try and get Rondo in blue and Orange.)

Anyway, the Knicks salary situation is so bad that they won't be able to get Rondo until he's a free agent. They don't have any young talent other than Shumpert and Hardaway and no picks until 2027. Well maybe earlier.

Number 1, Melo hasnt been hurt like T-Mac at all. 2, T-Mac never had anyone good to play with. 3, all this anti-Melo talk reminds me a LOT of the anti-Pierce talk circa 2007.

Melo and PP are the EXACT same player. Their games are built on deception and scoring, you bring Melo in to the C's and he will perform extremely well. No one believed that "selfish" Paul Pierce  was going to buy in, but he did. Why can't Melo? Why not Melo? Because he's been on crappy teams his whole career?

You're being extremely biased and forgetful or you didn't watch Pierce before 2008. Pierce was bounced out of the playoffs constantly, the only time we came close was when we almost beat the Nets in a TERRIBLE Eastern Conference in the early 2000s. Pierce had NO ONE, and neither does Melo. Their games are identical.

Melo had some pretty good teams in Denver. Iverson and melo couldn't play all that well together but they were still a good team. His nyk teams have never been a serious threat. Anyone saying they don't want melo on their team is confusing to me. Insert melo on our team and I think we are a legit playoff team. I think if we add melo and a defensive big and we are looking good. Need to hold onto sully tho

With all due respect, Melo can only dream about having a carer similar to Paul. No way i would like melo on the celtics. Melo will shoot his team in or out of the game, and until that is so, no way he passes a serious team in a 7 game series

Pierce had a special circumstance that probably helped with his transformation- the personality of KG.

I think it would take very special circumstances to get a similar transformation from Melo such as him joining the Spurs.  I don't see many other scenarios that would cause much of a change in Melo at this point.  Maybe playing with Chris Paul would help also.

I think him playing with an elite point guard to regulate his touches would get him to take better shots and elevate him to a championship level player.

the eastern conference right now is very similar to the EC then. let's hear the excuses why melo isn't producing the same results that pierce was able to back then.

like I said in another thread, pierce would have killed to play with the talent that melo has had through the course of his career.

these guys are not similar in any way. everything they said melo was supposed to be, pierce actually was.
