Giannis Antetokounmpo - Should he be a target for Danny?

The 2014 draft is undoubtedly an exciting one, and I'm very hopeful that the Celtics with have the opportunity to draft one of this years elite talents come spring.

That being said, prior to the 2013 draft I was extremely excited about Greek international prospect Giannis Antetokounmpo.  His length, athleticism and skill set all make him a prime candidate to be a superstar in this league if he can hone them all.  In addition, while when he was drafted he was a 6'8 or 6'9 guard, likely to be converted to small forward, he has since grown to over 6'10 and may grow to 7ft by his 21st birthday!

My point for this thread is this:  What if we were to make an offer to the Bucks to acquire Giannis?  I know that they are quite high on him, as they should be, but hypothetically what do you all think it would take to get him?  My guess, a 2014 lottery pick, or two non-lottery first round picks.

I'd gladly do two first rounders for him if it could be done, because I think a soon-to-be seven footer with his athleticism is way too good to pass up.  We missed him the first time, I think we should try and get him now.

If Sanders is really having as rough a time in Milwaukee as his Instagram would indicate, he might be a good guy to target--especially since the Bucks have shown a clear aversion to dismantling their team entirely.

Not going to comment on what it would take to get him (although it'd undoubtedly be a king's ransom), but his physique and skill set is truly rare. Forget twin towers in the frontcourt, because with Giannis, a team could conceivably run triple towers and create a matchup nightmare.

If it would "undoubtedly be a king's ransom" to get him, then why did he slide all the way to pick 15 in last springs draft?

I agree that he has proven himself more in his play so far, so that has certainly elevated his value.  But I'd be interested in hearing any argument that argues his value at over a lottery pick or two mid-first-rounders.

He has potential to be another Paul George but who knows if he will fulfill it.  Right now he is too thin and needs a lot of work on his body.

No, since I don't think it's even remotely realistic that he'd be on the trade block.  At least not right now.

Giannis is unattainable. He is 6ft 10/ 6ft 11 and Doctors say his growth plates are still open. He will be 7ft+. With that athleticism and height his ceiling is out of this world.

Hopefully Milwaukee doesnt screw this up.

Depends on what you mean by "screw this up".

Personally, I'd love for them to "screw this up" by trading Giannis to the Celts for a 2019 2nd round pick and a bag of socks..

Imo he looked 5 times better in the greek league vs nba. Has long strides and generous wingspan, but is not quick nor overly athletic. A horrid lookng jump shot

There are too many threads on this blog lately about guys we're not going to trade for. Why would the Bucks give this kid up? He's almost literally their only hope right now. Could we send them a dozen picks for him? I guess, but NBA trades don't work that way.

Do the hard work, and come up with interesting ideas for attainable players.

I will say that in a ****** draft, it's hard to believe GA went as late as he did. I advocate for taking solid role players in the late teens and twenties, but -- if you're in a down draft, where the marginal role guys are turtling at around 5 or 6... ga head and reach for a guy like this.
