Jeff Green, Humphries, Boston and Brooklyn's first rounder this season, for Carmelo Anthony.

The East is so weak this season I think we should just go for it. We might end up making the playoffs anyway. With the league atmosphere the way it is, we can get a lot of bang for our buck right now in terms of bringing in vet talent.

With Melo and Rondo we are a solid playoff team and another star away from contending.  Melo will stay if Ainge can put the right pieces around them.

I would definitely think about that one long and hard.  I really don't know if I would do it because the interior is still pretty weak for the team and I'm not sure how it could be improved post trade, but if we could somehow get a big and Anthony I would do it.  Like say if Houston would trade Asik for the LA pick and future pick using the trade exception, then I would do the Melo trade.

So that team would be

PG - Rondo/Crawford/Pressey
SG - Bradley/Crawford/Lee
SF - Wallace/Anthony
PF - Anthony/Bass/Sullinger
C - Asik/Sullinger/Olynyk

That team seems like it could be a real threat to Miami and Indiana.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I agree that the idea of Carmelo on the Celtics is appealing. (although I wouldn't do it until after Rondo has shown to be 100%)

Carmelo is not signing an extension anywhere, especially not Boston. However, if his unwillingness to sign an extension is widely known it could kill his trade value. If he makes it clear to the Knicks that he wants out, I think we could trade for him using a below market package since there is a chance he would walk away from us.

So in order for me to have interest in the deal, Carmelo couldn't be very expensive, but with the way the East is. A Carmelo and Rondo lead team is suddenly third best in the conference.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

You've spoken to him?   I think he's only ever said publicly that he wants to return to the Knicks.

Of course, that doesn't mean that he will return to the Knicks but it's a pretty big leap to interpret "I want to return to the Knicks" as he wants to play for the Lakers.   If there are any such tea leaves to be read it is more from the Lakers perspective -- they have alluded to wanting Carmelo.

I don't really want Melo on the C's.

No way he's headed to the Lakers after they gave Kobe that huge extension.

where do I sign the petition to get this to Danny Ainge?

Also, why would Melo sign in LAL? Once he is signed they are in cap hell along with NYK. All for what 2-3 years playing second to Kobe? no way he does that.

Melo needs Rondo, unfortunatley we would need more pieces.

If a Rondo/Affalo/Melo/Sully/Asik lineup could ever happen I would name my first born Danny Ainge.

We can't stop Miami Heat or Indiana Pacers in a 7-game series even if we have Carmelo. We need a talented big man, however.

Everyone's saying we'd need a big man, clearly can have Tyson come in the deal or take amare off their hands to make the deal even more enticing for them. Yeah amare is terrible for his contract, but say we give them Wallace. An amare n rondo pnr is gonna get amare The closest to his prime he's ever gonna get lol.

I'd say

JGreen
Humphries
Our first or Brooklyn first or both
Gerald Wallace and maybe fillers like faveroni etc.
-

Melo
Tyson
Amare

I say by no means are we stealing Melo in that trade we taking back two bad contracts in Tyson n amare.

Tyson will give us our defensive center n will play great with rondo.
Amare off the bench

Starting 5

Rondo
Avery
Melo
Sully or bass
Tyson

Honestly that's a solid defensive and scoring starting 5

With Kelly off the bench Jordan craw off the bench maybe we get a couple fillers from them as we'll.

Now in all honesty, I don't see the Knicks ever declining that trade. Now should we do it , honestly no.. Unless we keep winning, and rondo comes back strong before TE deadline, then I believe we had to do the trade cause our draft pick won't be that great and were going to be a playoff team anyways.
