This year if a team was not sold on who's left of Parker, Wiggins, Exum, Randle, Would you gamble huge on one of these kids. And who would you do it for. Only Parker.  Only for Wiggins? Would you trade four picks for Randle.

I'd definitely prefer one top 3 pick in the next draft over several picks in the mid teens.  I'm hoping for a game changer, not smaller pieces of the puzzle.

Are these picks unprotected and spaced out every other year?

i dont care. yes. trade the 4 first rounders. take a top 3 this year and then shake your head that any other GM would do this. you still have other picks left to help fill in holes.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I would, but only if it's our 2 picks this year, LAC pick next year, and a future heavily protected 1. Definitely want to keep our own pick next year along with the Brooklyn picks from 16-18.

Trading up 5-10 spots by giving up that many unprotected picks is extremely risky.

If that one top player isn't an MVP candidate you're still going to be a bad team for a few years. Now you don't have much to build around them with. Even worse you can't do any trades that would require first round picks going forward, that limits your ability to make moves extensively.

If you miss you are dead in the water.

Yeah the level of protection and what picks matters a ton.

4 bottom half first rounders would be a no-brainer. 3/4 future lottery picks means that its probably a bad idea.

Ask me in April.  I want to see more from Wiggins and Randle (completely sold on Parker).

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Yes, definitely. That would obviously mean our two picks this year. After that, I would try to pawn off our Clips pick next year and our pick the year after without protections.

I really don't think we will have a top ten pick this year and Atl looks like they are at least going to be picking in the late teens so it seems like a good gamble. The supposed potential in this draft class only comes around every ten years or so. We might as well go for exactly what we want right away.

What's a bummer in all of this is that we wouldn't have to give up any picks if we would just finish in the bottom 6 in the nba. I would trade 4 picks, but this is why not doing well this year really made sense for the future of our franchise.

I think that's a no brainer, a player oozing with talent or a bunch of question marks in the middle of the round. It's the same reason i wouldn't trade rondo for a bunch of spare parts, don't trade a dollar for 4 quarters.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.
