The east is scary awful ......even the lowly Celtics might sneak in.

If you want a lottery pick...better tell DA. , to sell off Bass , Green, Wallace and Make Rondo rest for the year.

Don' t see this team making playoffs or top five pick as constructed

I guess it's up to DA to point the ship in one direction or the other with some trades .

Not a clue ...what might happen .....could be anything really

Never ceases to amaze me how people, (a) don't understand basic probability theory, (b) ignore Occam's Razor, and (c)  seem to think that businesses are just giddy to engage in massive fraud schemes for no incentive whatsoever.

But then I open the Internetz, and the amazement ceases.

last time we tanked we ended up with the worst possible pick that we could get. KG and ray were band aids to that wound which gave us a small championship window due to their age.

if rondo gets hurt again we will be in the lotto for sure but if not. so be it. The team will only get better going forward wiggins or not

so why trade down? lessen the total depth of this roster for one player? for that we make a trade now!

You realize that we never win a ring if we don't get that #5 draft pick, right?
duh which is why i said it was a small window. one title every 5-10 years doesnt cut it. kg was worn down otherwise timberwolves dont even make that trade

that number 5 draft pick gave us ray allen not a ring. the same ray allen that bolted for miami

so realy how valuable was that pick? because theres a lot players that would of contributed to a title here then ray

I wonder if that's really the case. I think the trade was more about getting rid of Ray than an overwhelming wish for that draft pick. I'd bet a somewhat later (or future pick) would have gotten the trade done.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
question for the tankers.. who was the last superstar to be drafted in the top 5 and win a championship for that same team and how long did it take them?
The answer is "Dwyane Wade, 3 years", but the question isn't very good.

Many superstars have won titles with the franchises that drafted them, but there's a lot more to a title than just drafting a superstar.

I liked your snarky Kobe answer better.

TP nonetheless.

Durant, Lebron, Howard and Wade have all taken their teams to the finals.

But yeah, the team must be managed and built around that star correctly. Cleveland butchered Lebron's roster. Orlando gave Howard some awesome help in Rashard Lewis and...erm well...

One man can't win a 'ship on his own now a days.
But that one draft pick can be the centrepiece for bringing/attracting other great players to help him.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Decision needs to be made either way.

If we want the draft pick, players like Bass, Lee, and probably Green need to be ditched because team is frankly too competitive as it is.

If we want to go to the playoffs, we should look to do something absurd like trading for Melo, and try to generate a small window of contention for a few years.

Being half-and-half is the worst possible outcome. We should be either "win now" or "win later" as opposed to "hmm.. I don't know."

If we are headed to the playoffs I don't think that necessitates an absurd move in order to be a little more competitive. The only players on the roster older than 28 are Wallace and Bogans. Building something for a year or two from now (when Rondo's fully healthy and the kids have a little more experience) is more important than mortgaging the future for a trade that won't push us into the Miami/Indy level.

Looking at our schedule we could EASILY lose then next 9 games IMO.... .Our last few wins have come against some horrid teams(teams worse than is)

We have 2 Knicks and a Nets game in that string. We could easily lose the next 9 but barring injury it's fairly unlikely.

agreed.  we have a bunch of picks coming the next 5 years.  the East may suck this year with everyone going for Wiggins but next year's draft figures to be pretty good as well and there's a good chance the East bounces back to form and we're in the lottery at that point.  from what I've heard of the high school senior class, there's several very good big men that will be eligible for the 2015 draft we could snag.

One title every 5-10 years doesn't cut it? You must not have been following the team before 2008 if that's your attitude.

The #5 pick got us Ray. Ray got us KG. KG had already turned down a trade to Boston before,  and it took Ray Allen to convince him that a ring could be won here.

No pick, No Ray Allen. No Ray Allen, no KG. No KG, no 2008 championship. No 2008 championship, we're looking at no titles in almost 30 years. I'll take five years of contention, two finals appearances, and one Finals victory over that.

See that's a much more interesting discussion. I have no doubt that the Sonics wanted to get rid of Lewis and Ray, but I don't think they move on much beyond a top ten pick--even with his ankle surgeries.

Bottom line is we can't and shouldn't make the playoffs.  There is no good reason to make it.  We are bad, not bottom of the league bad but then again were not that good.  We are mediocre, this is the year to tank.  Backing into the playoffs does no service to us.  Like I been saying, sit Rondo all year, limit minutes to others, trade players and get into the lottery. I am not understanding why fans want to make the playoffs, we aren't winning it all!!!!

I think "why bother to compete if you can't win a championship" is getting up there with "mediocrity is the worst place to be in the NBA" and "tanking doesn't lead to championships" as the most astoundingly tone-deaf, bleating statements of 2013-2014.
