I just noticed that the Pacer's shooting guard Lance Stephenson is an unrestricted free agent this summer. Is he a guy worth going after as a legitimate long term starting shooting guard?

I think he absolutely would be, didn't realize he was a UFA.

Can do a little bit of everything at the position: score, rebound, pass, and defend.

I think he is worth it, but it also depends on what pick we will have. If we are in the top 10, if we choose someone like Marcus Smart, then we do not need to get Lance. I think a lot of free agent signing for us next season totally depends on our drafting number

He will be hard to pry away from Larry Legend, who put a lot of work into the guy. I sense a sacrifice along the lines of what Paul George made, in order to allow him to stay with the team that set his head straight.

I think he does some nice things on the court - namely his passing and rebounding from the shooting guard position - but I don't think he is necessarily an upgrade over Bradley...especially long term.

It looks like Indiana are only going to be able to offer him $7-8 million.

Due to luxury tax concerns, they could be out-bid.

I really like him but I'm not sure he will get more than $7-$8 million per year.

Can't see L.Stephenson leaving Indiana if the money is equal.

Probably got to pay him $9-10 million to tempt him away.

I dont think i would be ready to sign Lance to 10 million per year as a central building piece on a young team. He is too Ron Artest. On a team already winning he is awesome, also kind of like Artest.

The Celtics might not have cap space to sign a 10 mil per year player this summer anyway.

They would have to say good bye to Bradley to begin to make room. I think I would rather sign Bradley at 5-6 million per year.

Ultimately (as others have said), gotta see how the draft shakes out.

How many teams could use Lance Stephenson at this new price point?

My guess is far fewer than could use Lance Stephenson on his current contract.

He'll probably get extended, right?

And Boston doesn't have cap space anyways.

I like Stephenson, but he's not the sort of player you invest a lot of money into unless he's one of the last complementary pieces you need to make a contender.

Our first "big salary" signing has to be a bona fide superstar. Once you have the big piece in place players like Stephenson are more likely to come and will come for less money. When you don't you end up overpaying.
