Can you think of any playoff teams that might be interested in Brandon Bass + Courtney Lee?

Bass is making 6.4 mil over 2 years.
Lee is making 5.2 mil over 3 years.

Kinda bad contracts, but kinda capable players.  I don't think we could get any assets out of it.  An expiring contract would get the job done, imo.  They don't figure into long-term plans and we probably would prefer not to continue paying them.

Can you pinpoint any team that might want to give up an 11 mil expiring contract and add those two to there bench?

What about Bass and Lee to Detroit for Charlie Villanueva's expiring contract?  Would Detroit have any use for Bass and Lee?

I wouldn't mind keeping Lee, I think he's a valuable player to have.

I've always hated bass' play and when we signed him to that deal I couldn't believe it. I don't think we'll find anyone who would take him off our hands especially for an expiring.

I'm not too sure but I think Detroit has a similar player at the 4, Jerebko. I know hes not the exact same but hes a 4 who hits mid range shots and having both him and bass seem kind of redundant.
You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

I think Bass is gone at the trade deadline although i doubt you can get more than a 2nd rounder + exp for him.

Looking at the rosters around the league, I think Washington is a good landing spot for Bass. They are looking to make the playoffs (traded their '14 pick) and don't really have a capable back up big.

Singleton and Vesely are busts, Harrington has problems with his knee so that leaves them with Booker and Seraphin (both are getting minimal PT) who are yet to prove they are rotation players on a winning team. Imagine if Nene goes down..

If a contending team or two losses a PF due to injury market for guys like Big Baby and Bass could be higher than expected.

At the moment I can't really see a team desperate enough to take on Lee' contract. Maybe Detroit if they continue to struggle, Dumars is in last year of his deal and they lack shooting. They also have couple of expirings.

Players with an expiring contract in the $9-13 million range:

Ben Gordon - $13.2m
Hedu Turkoglu - $12m
Kris Humphries - $12m
Richard Jefferson - $11m
Shawn Marion - $9.3m
Andris Biedrins - $9m

I worry about Courtney Lee's trade value. I think is falling fast and hard.

The lack of minutes (17mpg) on a fairly bad team (.350) is a big problem. Especially when his competitors for playing time are Jordan Crawford (borderline rotation player last 3 years), Avery Bradley (limited SG in a PG's body) and Phil Pressey (mediocre 3rd string PG).

I used to be quite optimistic about being able to trade C-Lee because I believe he has (or had) quite a strong reputation in the league as a solid two way two guard. Someone who can be a useful glue guy on playoff teams. But now I am wondering whether C-Lee still has enough pull for teams to take on that contract for a guy who is receiving such a minimal role on a fairly bad team that has a well-dodgy backcourt. And frankly, the longer this goes on, the more and more I doubt that he does.

Houston, Washington, New York and Minnesota all seem like they could use a guy like Bass coming off the bench. Finding a mutually beneficial trade with any of those teams is hard though. Lee may be harder trade, but he seems like a good glue guy on our bench (even if he is overpaid). These guys may increase in value around the deadline though as players around the league get the injury bug.

not really sure what teams but i don't think lee and bass can be a part of the same trade. they're both mediocre players not really putting up numbers on a poor team. i agree with another poster i dont think lee has any trade value at all. he's just meh

Utah, if they are not entirely in tank mode, would probably take Lee (a solid defender) and Bass (an above average defender) for Biedrens.  They only have $16.28 million committed for next year and I am sure they know that Lee and Bass will not give them that many more wins this year.  They could limit their minutes if they get to playing too well this year:-))

P.S. I have long been fascinated with Andris.  He was a double double machine for 2-3 years and then lost virtually all his confidence.  He has NOT played many minutes the last several years (deservedly so), so he is much younger than his age.  Perhaps he could start to slightly resurrect his career with us and we could re-sign him to a reasonable extension.

You could expand the list by including two expiring contracts that equal 9-13 mil...  or expiring contracts in the 20 mil range (since we could include Humph for salary purposes)

Utah has the worst record in the league.  I don't see the point in them taking on these players as they seem clearly IMO in rebuild mold.

There aren't really many options.  You're mostly hoping for an Okafor-like situation where a player on an expiring contract is injured and possibly out for the season.

Bass has done a nice job this year.  I was all for moving him in preseason as we had the log jam at pf.  However, he will look even better with rondo (won't everyone  ::). )
Sully is the starting pf!  But maybe we keep bass unless a really good deal comes along.  Humphries is a top notch rebounder and can hit shots as well.  He can help a lot of teams AND is an expiring. Makes more sense to move him?
Lee I can't see bringing us much.  I'd put him in our top three tough to trade, Wallace, bogans, lee.

Both lee and bass would be good for playoff teams as subs but they don't do anything that unusual that most teams don't already have backup pf and 3rd or 4th guard already in place

I think it's Jeff Green and Gerald Wallace that have impacted C-Lee's playing time the most - the 10mpg those guys see at the 2 every game come directly out of Lee's minutes.

None. An expiring for those two guys would at minimum cost a 1st round pick until the draft lottery is complete. Team's aren't ready to make a commitment to players beyond this season until they understand which direction they're going to go.

That's why we're better off just holding off until the pieces fall and teams know their direction. The value of both players will shoot up.
