I watched the final minute via NBA League Pass.  It was the Nets announce team.  I think it was Mike Fratello... and as it happened he said, "I use to do that all the time..."

I guess it's an old school trick that coaches do when they are out of timeouts and want some additional time to talk to their team.

I do think if it gets enough attention there will be some kind of fine/suspension, though.  It's a blatant attempt to circumvent the rules.

Even though other coaches have probably done things like this, with Kidd being a rookie coach and losing it probably look like a desperation act...plus it was sooo obvious (and social media will draw even bigger attention to it).lol

He used to pull a lot of cheeseball moves like that as a player too.  Once or twice a year he'd do some move where he'd bump into someone who was out of bounds or something and pick up a T on the guy for it. 

Sort of a weird niche he has.

I'm sure he would have tried the hidden ball trick all of teh time if he played  baseball.

if the NBA wants to send a message like the NFL should have done with players blatantly faking injuries to slow hurry ups down.  They need to lay a REAL stiff fine and warning for suspension down for this, otherwise it's gonna happen again, only in some meaningful playoff game.

Luckily it got brought to their attention in a meaningless game by a desperate idiot, whos acting skills are about on par with his coaching skills.

I'm sure the Nets wish Kidd has something else than this kind of tricks to offer them. But these "game smarts" are great, and part of the game.
