Anthony Bennett, Thomas Robinson, Derrick Williams.

Is it a case of them being too small to play PF in the NBA, but they could get by in college.  too slow to play the 3?  Kind of like when the Bulls drafted Marcus Fizer post-Jordan?

If Robinson is really 6-10, he is harder to understand than a 6-7 guy.

In 2011 Freddette and Brandon Knight were picked towards the end of the top 10, but they are small guards.  Austin Rivers in the same boat, 10th pick in the 2012 draft.

I looked up their measurements on draftexpress.  None of the 3 had measurements without shoes, which is interesting.  Bennett was listed as 6-7, Williams 6-9, Robinson 6-10 all with shoes on.

That pretty much means they weren't measured at pre-draft camp, or in other words they weren't really measured. What you see is likely unofficial and possibly off.

Before he got hurt, he was pretty much Brandon Bass. Not a glowing endorsement for a 4th pick overall.

Looking at each of the of 3 you listed

Williams, he is a PF not a SF. With a standing reach of 9' he really isnt even a small PF. When Love has been hurt he puts up decent numbers and while not a super star he isnt a full out bust. If he gets a starting PF position could eaily be a 16pt 8rb guy.

Robinson, his standing reach is 8'10 placing him on the smaller side for an NBA big. His college game was so dependent of physical dominance that the his lack of skill set seems to be really hurting him. Where Williams has some SF skills Robinson does not.

Bennet, never got his standing reach measured but with a shoed height of 6'7 and a 7'1 reach I would guess his standing reach to be similare or slightly less them Bass's 8'10.5. Much like williams Bennet is trying to transition to SF. Howver his asthma and body type are leading to a heavy SF. This will never work in the NBA. The only wide body SFs are physical beasts like maggete artest or Lebron. Bennet is not in that mold. If he can get is body where it needs to be I see a Bass like ceiling for Bennet and still cant figure out what the Cavs saw in him.

...  even with his injuries, he still might have been the fourth-best player in that [dang] draft!

Obviously been a while since I've seen him play, but I remember him having pretty good hands and a nice touch near the rim.  Looked like a guy who would have developed into a solid, 15/8-type player (albeit one who didn't do much on D).

I remember something weird about the Fizer draft, one team drafting a player that another team wanted because the were mad about not being able to complete a trade or something. Fizer may have been involved in the situation.
