Rajon Rondo (2 yrs / 12.0M)
Jeff Green (3 yrs / 8.7M)

FOR

Jimmy Butler (2 yrs / 1.1M)
Luol Deng (1 yr / 14.2M)
Tony Snell
rights to Nikola Mirotic
Charlotte's #1 pick (top-10 protected, top-8 protected, unprotected)

If we then let Deng walk, it would free $20M in cap room. We end up with Butler, Mirotic, a lottery pick and max player funds.

Chicago gets a superstar to fill in for Rose and a cheaper SF on a longer contract for a bunch of young guys.

Yes, I made it up. It was pointed out on ESPN that Chicago might look for a replacement PG if they don't rebuild, and that they have a couple of "extra" assets in Mirotic and Charlotte's pick. They were listing guys like Jameer Nelson as fits, but I had to consider the "all-in" possibility.

I would think this would make them contenders this year and be the biggest collection of young talent we could hope for in return (Butler, Mirotic, Charlotte pick all pretty valuable).

It's also influenced by salaries - I had to go the Deng for Green route to get things to match up, though there is some logic to that part.

In the NBA, you don't replace all-stars by trading for other all-stars and ending up with two identical players on the books for multiple years.

Personally, I'd say no.

I personally think the Celts could get more in return for Rondo and Jeff Green.

Check out my Rondo for Rose thread.

You would be wrong.  Rondo and Green just don't have that much value.  Sad but true.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Sad but opinion, since you don't have any idea how highly valued any particular nba players are.
