I was looking fwd to having KO back tonight.

Any guesses as to when he will be back in the lineup?

Stevens said he looked fine in practice. No public complaint by olynyk either. So how are these trainners figuring out he is not ready?

Any medical experts that can chime in?
High ankle sprains may take weeks, and it's different depending on the severity. Not an exact science.

In any case, can't say I'm particularly anxious to see Olynyk back, he could use a stint in the D-League at this point.
Normally I have no problem agreeing with you.  This time I agree with you, buy really don't want to.  I also think KO needs a stint in D League.  He hasn't quite caught on to the need for aggression in his position, IMO.  D League might help him with that.

Perhaps there is another KO out there.  The one I was watching previous to an ankle injury looked fine - no, not perfect but steadily improving.

I think - with the current talent on this team - he is a borderline starter.

I don't think Olynyk would learn much in the D-League. He's not the sort of raw basketball player who I think would benefit a whole lot.

Maybe to work his way back from the injury if we were in a situation where he couldn't crack the rotation. But we're not a contender and he's going to get minutes without an issue.

I'm interested to see how much PT he's going to get. The way Kris Humphries played the last few games, Bass playing solid and of course Sully, who's getting their chunk of PT off to give room for KO.

This is completely off topic but kind of related to KO.

Playing 2k14, SacTo offered Jason Thompson for Olynyk? Good deal?

On the other hand, Fav has been struggling.

Also, after playing the Clips tonight and a rematch with the Knicks on Friday, folks could be ready once again to see the limitations of a Sully/Bass frontcourt.

Yes, I think a few D league games would greatly benefit KO.

I really am confused by the "yes, disagree completely with the post I just said yes to."

If you were a Red Claws fan I'm sure you would love some Olynyk.

Oh, Fafnir.  I forgot that we are not trying to win!  Silly me.  Can't teach this old dog new tricks, I guess.

Personally, I don't think trying to win basketball games and giving Kelly Olynyk minutes are mutually exclusive propositions.

You are right, Celtic18.  I was just getting snippy because Faf said we are not contenders. (I always think we are until we are eliminated.)  I apologize to Fafnir.

Olynyk was getting 22 MPG despite his poor shooting and shaky defense because he's a rookie the C's wanted to develop, not because he helps us win games now.

If we were a contending team he'd be buried BBD style getting spot minutes. That's what I meant. So no need to move him to the d-league, he can get his minutes here.

I think Olynyk will have to earn his minutes back. This team is playing much better ball without KO and the last thing Stevens wants to do is lose the locker room by GIVING minutes to a player over players that have performed better overall than KO, especially while the team has garnered some success.

Not saying KO can't win back the playing time, but just to hand him back a starting spot or a rotational spot with 24 MPG over Bass, Sully, Humphries or Fav when they have been playing well and contributing to wins, goes against what I think would be good for the locker room and instilling a winning environment.

He doesn't belong in the D-League.

Glen Davis got 13 mpg in his rookie year, earned his spot in the rotation for the next year(s), and never looked back. That seems to have worked for him just fine.

I agree with this.  Sully and Bass are undoubtedly going to keep their places as the two primary bigs.  I also think Hump has earned the role of third big.  The way I see it, Klynyk will be battling Hombre for a spot in the rotation.  I think he could move up to third big by the playoffs.

Kelly is "hurt", Hump and Bass are showcasing their talents. At some point, Kelly will change from being hurt to not being hurt. Will both Hump and Bass still be Celtics when that change takes place? We shall see.
