My initial reaction is that Deng is the better overall player.
Still, it seems that a lot of Celtics fans expect too much from Jeff Green, though perhaps some of that is Danny's fault, since he seems to portray Green as something more than he is.
At any rate, even though I understand the eagerness to see the Cs return to contention, and feel that same eagerness, it seems like some fans are letting their impatience get the best of them—they seem like they can't get rid of everyone but Rondo quickly enough. Trading for proven stars around the age of 30 may get us a title or two, but as we saw with Ray and KG, it can also bring us several injury-plagued years of frustration. If we can be patient with young bucks like Sully, KO, Green, and Bradley—maybe, MAYBE trading one or two of them for a legit star of about 27 or 28—then we might have better fortune than we did with the new big three.
